This is a very well-painted miniature depicting a courtly scene of a nobleman and his companion on the terrace of a palace. Although Mughal in style, I am not 100% convinced that the painting is indeed of the period. For that reason, I am listing it as decorative only and have priced it accordingly. The trellised outer border which surrounds the painting itself is embellished with what appears to be metallic silver highlights. The painted area within the trellised frame measures 4-1/4" X 8"...

One of dozens of drawings by this artist that I recently acquired, (ask to see others, not shown in my shop) this is a sketch in soft pencil on paper, the drawing, very simply framed just for protection purposes (no glass), measuring 15 1/2" by 19 1/2", signed at lower left, not dated but probably 1940's. The subject appears to be a European village with figures. The drawing is by California and Massachusetts listed artist DAISY MARGUERITE HUGHES (1882-1968)...

Large limited-edition Japanese woodblock print by Joshua Rome (b. 1953) titled “Amawaku no Harusame” dated 4/15/1981. The bottom margin is titled, dated, numbered 70/100 and signed in pencil. The artist's red seal is beside the signature. At the bottom margin edge in pencil is "Spring Rain," the artist's name in English, and the original purchase price of $225. Original etching on BFK Rives paper, "Issachar", from the Twelve Tribes of Israel series, 1973, signed by the artist SALVADOR DALI (1904-1989) at lower right margin and numbered 21/195 at lower left. The work is generally clean and comes with quality gold leaf framing, but no glass. There is slight oxidation within the mat opening. Print is taped at top edge only. Measurements are 22 1/2" by 15 1/2" inside the mat; sheet measures 25 1/2" by 19 3/4"; and finally, 32" by 25" framed.

Small "cabin art" painting of a lake landscape, of a type painted from about the 1930's through 1950's, framed in rough wood with some gilt remaining. The painting, 8 1/2" by 13" framed, has a rustic feel that will make it an excellent addition to a small wall in your lake or mountain hideout.

Small (8 1/2" by 7" framed) painting of a Russian Orthodox cathedral, dated 1998, ink writing in Russian at bottom. The colorful swirling domes resemble those on Saint Basil's in Moscow, but this is not an urban scene. Condition is excellent.

This is a watercolor painting of the famous Philippe's French Dip Restaurant in downtown Los Angeles, an iconic area landmark to this day. The restaurant opened in 1908 and remains a vital part of Los Angeles' living history. At the restaurant, so the story goes, in the year 1918, a food preparer accidentally dropped a hot meat sandwich into the juices of the cooking pan. A well-painted oil on canvas, 19 3/4" by 11 1/2", unframed, UNSIGNED, featuring a rivulet-type small waterfall deep in the forest, emptying into a foreground pool. The name "H. D. MARTIN" is written in a late hand on the reverse side of the RELINED canvas, and then it appears there was an attempt to rub that out. The canvas has been laid on another quality canvas, relined, in decades not that far in the past. The tacking edges are gone on all sides...

An unframed, unstretched oil on canvas painting of famous author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle relaxing in his chair, pipe in hand and faithful Irish Terrier dog "Paddy" at his side. The work is unsigned, and likely dates to circa 1920. Could be American or European; the unknown artist was obviously trained and skilled. Oil on canvas painting of a classic red barn in Alaska's Matanuska Valley near Anchorage, signed at lower left by artist Ted Goldstone and dated 3/69 and titled on stretcher. The Matanuska Valley is known as Alaska's prime agricultural area. The long hours of daylight in summer have produced record cabbages, among other produce. The high surrounding mountains remind one that one is in Alaska and not the Midwest. The art measures 16" by 12".

An old oil on wood panel painting of a peaceful stream running through a wooded area, unsigned, 9 1/4" by 13", unframed. The work is obviously by a talented hand, probably a listed artist had he/she signed it. The oval artist's materials stamp on reverse of panel and the work itself suggests a date of circa 1900, maybe 1910. The oil needs some attention from a restorer to fully expose its original beauty...

Alfred Hair (American, 1941-1970) was an early Florida Highwaymen painter. This large painting depicts two leaning palm trees just above a beach with two high tide lines of debris, curling waves and seagulls all under a sunny but partially cloudy sky. Signed, “A.
