This is a lithograph, apparently signed in the plate only, by the noted American artist RAPHAEL SOYER (1899-1987). Soyer, one of several brothers who became significant figures in American art during the WPA and mid century period, became known for his sensitive studies of human figures in urban settings and interiors. Paintings sell at major auctions, and prints, some hand signed and some not, are regularly encountered. This one is in clean condition and is ready for the wall.

Barnard/1933.” The young man with brown hair and eyes wearing an open necked white shirt leans into the picture plane with a sense of youthful eagerness. Elinor Barnard (1872-1942) was born and studied in the UK, but worked mostly in the USA, principally New York City. She has a relaxed and economical style. Sight size 16 3/8 by 12 ¼ inches. This carved agate contemporary snuff bottle is 2 ¾” high, 1 ¾” wide and 1 ¼” thick. The lighter part was carved as “Buddha hand citron” shape and used as the body of the bottle. The darker color agate was carved into a small bug which is resting on the fruit. It is well hollowed, polished and in great condition.

Irving Amen's works are most commonly prints, as he is considered a master print maker in woodblock, etching, lithography and silk screen; this example appears to be etching or etching with aquatint. He also executed oils and acrylics in the course of a long career. This work, titled at lower left in pencil "Tenderness" and numbered there 89/200 examples, is signed in pencil at lower right. The print measures 18 3/8" by 12 1/4" inside the mat (23 1/2" by 17 1/2" as framed)...

Everett Shinn, 1876-1953, NY & PA. This small jewel is oil on canvas. It is 12" by 16" unframed and 17 3/4" by 20 1/2" framed. It has been relined and is in good condition. The signature on lower left is difficult to see. It comes from a fine collection in Miami and was purchased at Sothby's. A prominent New York-based artist in the early 20th century, Everett Shinn was a Social Realist painter who focused on lower-class urban themes...
