A beautiful vintage set of three Chinese paintings on silk Muses of Music with Deer and Tiger with musical instruments. Presented beautifully framed and matted. Each measuring 16.5" W x 26.5" H x 0.75" D. Each artist signed with exquisite details.

Daniel Tretiak wrote about prints that were new to him (in 2017) that included, in my (LDT)view, one of the strangest, hard-to-decipher prints that the artist ever did, Bai-1. It was an early one, created in 1958.

A wood engraving on thin paper, the sheet unframed and measuring 8 1/2" by 11", pencil titled "Wadcroft, Kettering, Northants", and pencil signed at lower right and numbered 71/100, by the artist, American artist LEONARD THIESSEN (1902-1989). This is a mid 1940's work by the Nebraska-born artist. Thiessen's father worked in printing in Omaha. The young Thiessen went to work for an architectural firm, and studied at university in Nebraska. He became an interior designer and decorator...

Original 1977 Marc Chagall (1887-1985) color lithograph "The Village", (Mourlot 917), executed for the "Le Chemin de L'Amitie" issue of Derriere Le Miroir (No. 225), 1977, in an unsigned edition of 15,000. This example came to be signed later by Chagall in pencil at lower right ("complimentary signature"), perhaps at a special gallery or printer event. The sheet measures 14 1/2" by 21", with a simple blue frame (no mat). There are condition issues...

Gouache on paper laid on board extensive landscape in the naive style, signed at left "Yehoshua" (YEHOSHUA BRANDSTATTER (1891-1975). For the collector of Judaica and Jewish painting, this is a charming work by a noted figure in Israel, a man who did not take up painting until age 72. He immigrated to Israel in 1909 and was active in the Israeli film industry until his senior years...

Nineteenth Century French Artist A.L. Simpson “The Blue Shop,Tunis, fine woodblock measuring 22x16” ,signed and titled

Desert scene with distant mountains, possibly a scene in Texas or New Mexico, in oil on artist's board, 8 1/2" by 12 1/2", unframed, signed at lower right "M. Edwards", not dated but likely circa 1920 to about 1940, judging from the technique, soiling and the black board. I don't see a listing for the name but he or she was obviously talented. The painting is very, very dirty and would be a wonderful candidate for a cleaning, which would really transform it...

Fine Drawing illustration by artist J.J. Gould 10x15 inch Framed size 20x24 inches Joseph J. Gould, better known as J.J. Gould, was born in 1880. Gould lived in Philadelphia and designed posters for Lippincott's during the mid-1890s. After 1900, Gould went on to design and illustrate 21 covers for The Saturday Evening Post.

Stipple engraving with hand coloring, titled "Ambrette d'hiver", with names of artists "Poiteau pinxt." at lower left and engraver "Bocourt sculpt." at lower right. The print measures 13 3/8" by 10 1/2" inside the mat (23" by 18 1/2" as framed). This botanical illustration print by the hand of noted French botanical illustrator PIERRE ANTOINE POITEAU (1766-1854) dates to the so-called "Golden Age" of French botanical illustration. Poiteau was a pupil of the great illustrator Redoute...

An ORIGINAL mixed media color caricature drawing of iconic entertainer Madonna, 6 1/4" by 8 1/2" (11" by 13" in present silvery framing), signed at lower right by the obviously highly talented contemporary artist who goes by the fashionably anonymous moniker "14". The work is in pencil, gouache, and color crayon. Madonna is shown with colored blonde hair that extends out quite too far on both sides, and there is the suggestion of her being less-than-young...

Gouache on paper, 19" by 12" (29" by 22" as nicely framed in complementary silver and gray), the subject "Iceland Poppies" written in pencil at lower left in addition to the artist's signature and what looks to be "61" as the date of execution--it's very small and hard to read. This is a rather typical example of the work of the noted California artist, JOAN IRVING (BRANDT) 1916-1995. It is very impressionistic and spontaneous and sure in execution, and in very fresh, excellent condition...

Jasper Cropsey, N.A. Hastings on Hudson, NY, 1823-1900. This watercolor on paper is a beautiful example of his sensitive paintings It is 14" W by 9" H in a nice modern frame. It is signed lower right and comes from an important private collection. His paintings sell for up to $600,000.

A pencil signed limited edition color print "We The People 1787", featuring Ben Franklin at printing press with assistants, evidently producing copies of the Constitution for distribution in the colonies. The work measures 18 3/4" by 25 1/4" and 25" by 32" framed/matted (wood frame, no glass). The artist signed in pencil at lower left margin and at lower right the piece is numbered 344/2000...
