The image on the right is an enlarged study of the vest worn by the Mother in the Van Dyck portrait. The Portrait of a Woman and Child was painted in 1620-21 by Van Dyck. The unusual design on the vest matches that of Rubens. The embroidery design symbol means family love. This is a good sample of using the natural color of agate to create an interesting snuff bottle. It is 3 inches tall, 1 1/8 inches wide and 1 inch thick.
