Highly decorative pochoir print, circa 1920's, of children flying balloons against a gold sky, 9" by 7", 18" by 16" in playful bright red frame. This is likely an illustration for a children's book of the period. Condition is excellent. The frame has some scratches at top and left that could likely be minimized. The mat is a creamy color with pattern and consistency somewhat resembling that of a paper towel. Ideal for a child's room.

Nineteenth century print of a scene including palace and figures strolling, titled in white gouache (by hand) "Florence" at lower center, the color throughout hand applied by a talented artist. This very nearly resembles a drawing rather than a print. Measurements 6 1/4" by 9 1/2" (14" by 18 3/4" in wood frame). The print was trimmed tight to the margin, then laid on a neutral gray/green background, and a white border was then hand applied...

The striking kanji means Rising. Maki produced this image in 1970 as a modest black on white print. This print is Poem 70- 48 (rising): The kanji,which is the print's core theme, is reiterated in the title. When this print first came out, it must have in a winner: 59/151 . This print has a golden yellow sun and a light blue tear or splash to give it verve. This is the Maki style. A year later in 1971 Maki produced a Big Red, the same character shown here was done as a Red kanji in striking image...

An original 17th century etching, "God Appears to Moses in the Burning Bush", plate 30 from the well-known series of 52 published in 1615 in Rome by Giovanni Giacomo Rossi, the artist being ORAZIO BORGIANNI (1578-1616). These works are after the frescoes by Raphael on the second floor of the Apostolic Church in the Vatican. From our European Collection, a very good 17th century copper plate engraving, most likely English circa 1650-1700, depicting a Chinese official accompanied by his entourage, with subjects kowtowing in the foreground and a crowd of spectators to the rear.

Size and Condition: 7 inches by 5 1/4 inches, very well preserved with only slight creasing.
