This is a very unusual and unique work, 23 1/4" by 18 3/4", (39 3/4" by 28" framed), in tempera or similar medium on board, signed at lower right by artist G. W. Harris and dated 1992. Difficult to describe, I would say it is a compilation of themes relating to the Harlem area of Manhattan, home to African-American culture for decades. Among the pictorial elements are a 125th Street sign, a marquee sign with "Miles Davis" and the Apollo Theater, the Daily News, and "Bar"...
For the connoisseur of pastoral, traditional 17th century Dutch landscape painting, this is actually a contemporary work on panel, by Southern California artist WILLIAM GALVEZ of Placentia. The technique, featuring fine detail and a smooth glazed surface, and the handling of the subject matter, including silhouetted tree, last light of day effects, humble abode, and tiny figures and animals, demonstrate the artist's familiarity with the Dutch Old Masters of previous centuries...

A drawing, pencil with touches of yellow, lilac and even possibly blue, signed at lower right by one of Hungary's most important artists of the twentieth century, CZOBEL BELA (1883-1976). The sheet measures 12" by 11 1/2" inside the mat and the entire sheet is 13 1/2" by 12". The artist, of Hungarian-Jewish heritage, was a student of Bela Ivanyi Grunwald...

Signed American original oil landscape painting tenderly depicting a father and son sitting among the rocks along a river's edge with a luminous back lit area set against rich dark bluish green trees and water, aptly titled: Father's Day and signed by a self taught American landscape painter at lower right as: Mimi Dee.
The father and son are not detailed, allowing emphasis on the promising luminous area beyond, reversing the usual academic "rule" of cool back and warm foreground...

Joseph is depicted as placing the ring of betrothal on the finger of Our Lady. The icon comes with an elaborately hand-carved gilt wood Baroque style frame...

Re Framed fresh landscape signed American original oil painting on canvas depicting redwoods or sequoias- California Pacific Northwest trees in bright burnt sienna and spring green. Bold romantic American modernism approach. Spotted owls, a sweetly monogamous bird, are one of the few birds that seem to do well among them, as the thick canopy and bark tannins are not conducive to most insect life, needed for most other birds to thrive.

This is one of the very scarce, desirable prints "Le Nid--Coree" ("The Nest--Korea") by the important French-Japanese printmaker artist PAUL JACOULET (1902-1960). In December 1941, as war exploded upon the world, the image was created by the artist as a gift for his mother, who never got to actually see it. The edition in this size/coloration is said to have been fewer than 200 examples. This particular image of a bearded old Korean man in traditional clothing tenderly feeding a dragon fly to hu...
