Large and impressive original acrylic painting on paper by Ruth Schloss (Born in Germany in 1922, died in Israel in 2013). This untitled works is signed in Hebrew l.r. It measures 27" by 19" (work alone) and 35" by 27" in its wonderful Lucite frame. In excellent original condition. Provenance: from a Manhattan estate. Ruth Schloss emigrated from her native Germany to Israel in 1937 with her family...

A Mediterranean landscape painting, oil on board, 13" by 19" (19 1/2" by 25 1/2" framed) signed at lower right "ELBAZ" and above that, the same name in Hebrew script. This could be a work by listed artist ANDRE ELBAZ (1934-) but I am unable to confirm that. The listed Elbaz painted works in Morocco and some have brought large sums at auction there...

New Orleans Abstract Artist Leonard Flettrich, 1916-1970… oil on canvas depicting a man holding a child. His work was shown at the New Orleans Museum of Art and is a native of Louisiana. This work measures 44” x 32”

Dan Tretiak wrote about a print he didn't own and simply described it here: sad stuff.

Gouache on paper, 19" by 12" (29" by 22" as nicely framed in complementary silver and gray), the subject "Iceland Poppies" written in pencil at lower left in addition to the artist's signature and what looks to be "61" as the date of execution--it's very small and hard to read. This is a rather typical example of the work of the noted California artist, JOAN IRVING (BRANDT) 1916-1995. It is very impressionistic and spontaneous and sure in execution, and in very fresh, excellent condition...

Daniel Tretiak chose to number this note 32, with no explanation of why there were no other notes between 28 and this one. In this note he focused on Poem J, a 1966 print that had just emerged (in 2019).

This is an elegant etching in grays and black on heavy white paper (or possibly could be considered an aquatint with etching I believe), the sheet measuring 29 1/2 " by 21 1/2", in a narrow modern simple frame, crisply pencil signed by the artist, with a Chinese symbol resembling a traditional artist's stamp at lower right (possibly for the word "Ping") and numbered 41/110 at lower left, and titled "Life" in English and presumably Chinese, at lower left center...

Marcel Vertès (born Marcell Vértes, 10 August 1895 – 31 October 1961) was a French costume designer and illustrator of Hungarian-Jewish origins.He won two Academy Awards (Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design) for his work on the 1952 film Moulin Rouge. He was a good friend of Pierre Bonnard and would meet for art talks in the south of France where they also would see Picasso and Matisse...

A beautifully painted work in oil on panel, featuring a snowy landscape with buildings and foreground pond, 24" by 32" (32" by 44 1/2" as framed), circa 1960's, signed lower right by the noted Canadian impressionist artist Tom Roberts (also known as Thomas Keith Roberts), 1909-1998. An original label on the reverse gives the title as "Late Winter---Bowmanville Mill". Bowmanville is a town east of Toronto in Ontario, Canada...

Original oversize deep etching on zinc by Wendell H. Black (American, 1919-1972), one of the last plates Black worked on before his death. Titled and numbered 7/25 l.l. Signed and dated l.r. 23 1/2" by 35". In excellent original condition. From the first edition of this work, posthumously printed by Berkley Chappell.

Colorful landscape painting of a modest dwelling perched on a rise above a turquoise aqua colored sea, leaning coconut palms framing the scene and two small sail boats in the distance, signed at lower left "Dickerson". The work, on panel, measures 12" by 15 1/2" (14 1/2" by 18" simply framed). The scene could be Hawaii or the Caribbean; hard to tell. The impressionist palette, and especially the various shades of blue, make for an appealing painting...

In the mid-1960s, Haku Maki was firmly launching his career as an important Japanese print maker. He did a series of prints of which a long and key series was the Alphabet A – Z. In turn, the Alphabet was the first series of what came to be many series of prints, all of which Maki called the Poem series. Prints in the Poem series continued to be produced until 1972. He produced all of the Alphabet in 1966 or part of it in that year and part in the next...
