Edmund Blampied 1886-1966 British This is an original drypoint etching by British artist Edmund Blampied. The work is titled: "Night Time in Dieppe, created and printed in 1926, editioned as 62/100. The image measures 7 3/4X10 3/4 inches. Fine use of plate tone on the street and background. A rich feathered Burr. A very fine and atmospheric image.

‏Oil on canvas painting of snowy high mountain framed by a lake and trees, unusually large size for the artist's works at 20" by 36" (24 1/2" by 40 1/2" framed). Although unsigned (and Detreville's output frequently WAS unsigned), the handling, subject matter and color palette almost certainly suggest the hand of the noted California painter. I have owned and sold other unsigned paintings as being by Detreville, and I will stand by this one being by him as well...

"Village Pond" oil on canvas 15 1/2" x 20 3/4" unframed Langer was born on Dec. 11th 1860 in Leipzig, Germany. After becoming a journey painter he was admitted to The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (Copenhagen, Denmark) in 1877 after studying under W. Kyhn and Sigurd Konstantin-Hansen. He graduated from there in 1886. He made study tours to Italy (1886), Paris (1893), The Balkans (1920) and Sweden (1920) and several other places, and received the Raben-Levetzau scholarship in 1894...

Oil on canvas painting of a mill adjacent to a pond, 28" by 22", (33 1/2" by 27 1/4" framed) possibly signed at lower right, but affixed on reverse is an old handwritten slip of paper, with name of artist, subject identification ("Red House, Milltown"), her addresses, and 1924 Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts 119th annual exhibition info, apparently item #95 in that exhibition. The artist is identified thereon as IRENA FRANKEBERGER...

Oil on canvas, 18" by 12 1/2", unframed, signed at lower right "F M Shane", and inscribed on reverse of the canvas, "Loveland Canon/Road to Estes Park/Colorado/1925". This work is somewhat primitive but the artist has created an interesting painting. There is a listed artist Frederick Emmanuel Shane (1906-1992), a Missouri regionalist who also painted in Colorado; conceivably this could be an early work of that artist, for some reason signed "F M Shane"...

A circa 1920 oil on canvas of apples and sprigs of blossoms on a tabletop, 18" by 27 1/2" (26" by 36" in original frame), signed at right center "A. Landsberger" (or, many variations thereof could be possible). The signature, in red in old Germanic hand, is on top of an apparently older, incised signature that is quite different (and, very difficult to make out). The work is very nicely executed by a trained hand, and is in excellent antique condition, with no tears or flaking...

ONE OF TWO BY THE ARTIST IN MY SHOP, a watercolor painting of numerous figures on the street in winter, by the noted Russian Socialist Realist artist IVAN VASILIEVICH SIMAKOV (1877-1925). The work, 8 1/2" by 24" inside the mat, 18" by 33 1/2" as framed, is signed on the front at lower right, and dated there 1922; on the reverse side of the aged board is a lot of writing in Russian, which I am unable to read, save for the artist's name...

A circa 1925 ORIGINAL PAINTING, not a print, with title "Oriental Antiques", no signature, but with old Massachusetts Normal Art School partial label on reverse, the piece measuring 22 3/4" by 16 3/4 in its original charming period blue and reddish-painted framing. The word "COELEBS" at bottom does not seem to pertain to anything. This may be a work by art students training in the use of watercolor and gouache. It was found in a Laguna Beach fine estate...

Written in pencil in old hand on the tattered framing paper is "San Capistrano Mission". Although unsigned, the handling, subject matter and color palette are unquestionably of the hand of the noted California prolific painter RICHARD DETREVILLE (1864-1929)...

An unusual and decorative circa 1930's unframed 16" by 20" oil on canvas painting featuring a beautiful young maiden centered in a tawny, mountainous Southwest landscape, Native Americans surrounding her, signed lower left rather illegibly. I have long studied the signature and believe it might be "Ben Mead", (1902-1986) who was a southwestern (Texas and California) artist-illustrator based in Amarillo and Dallas. Mead focused on illustration for publication...

A good maritime oil on canvass painting of a fishing sloop in a turbulent sea. Signed "IR Lowd" at lower right. The stretcher is pencil signed "Fishermen in a Winter Sea/Winter Rig/Flat Roof". The canvas is an older, probably original giltwood frame. Found in Maine.

Original pastel on paper by Margarete Schneider-Reichel (Germany, 1891-1944). Signed and titled "Die Liebenden" verso. Also initialed and dated 1924 l.r. Margarete Schneider-Reichel is a very controversial artist who studied with Alfred Kubin and Franz Von Stuck.

Original pastel on paper by Vladimir Pavlosky (American, born in 1884 in Ukraine, died in 1944). This work is signed lower right. It is titled "Hillside" on a gallery label verso and dates circa 1925. Pavlosky was a Boston area artist who was inspired by Sargent and Homer. Provenance: Wharton Fine Art.
