20th century copy of an earlier sculpture of Washington by J.A. Houdon 1741-1828. Jean-Antoine Houdon 25 March 1741 – 15 July 1828) was a French neoclassical sculptor.

A very finely drawn miniature of an extremely handsome man, done en grisaille on organic material by H.M.S. Stuart.

A nicely executed watercolor, on natural material, of a gent in a black coat with white stock and ruffled shirt. Presented in the original gilt metal case with hair work under glazing on the reverse.

The overall condition is fine, with some tiny dust motes under the glass. The white areas circling the top half are reflections from the chamfered cover glass. Overall frame size is 2 1/4" by 2".

Oil on board painting featuring flaming autumnal trees, a view to high mountains beyond, signed at lower right "STIRLING". This 12" by 8 1/2" work (18" by 15" framed) is a rather typical example of Colorado impressionist artist DAVE STIRLING (1887-1971). Stirling was a familiar face in Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park, where he had a studio from which he sold paintings to passing tourists. Maki’s Big Reds—an appellation which my late husband Daniel Tretiak gave to Maki’s large, red designs (usually kanji) on black backgrounds—are well-represented by this ox, a subject Maki did many times. An artist’s proof (A.P.), it measures 16in x 21.75in.

In the last year of Maki’s life, Daniel Tretiak tells us, he was ill but continued to work. He did lithographs on shikishi board, which was a hard board covered in white rice paper. The back was yellow with a small design in gold and the whole board is gold-edged. Poem 8B is one of those works done in the 1999-2000 period.

An extremely fine miniature portrait by John Henry Brown, done in watercolors on natural material. One of the best examples of his skill, showing an attractive woman, beautifully painted.
