Interesting, graphically arresting, colorful original lithograph from 1978, 27" by 19 1/2" inside the mat, protected in simple metal frame and plexiglas (not assembled currently), of a 1978 exhibition at the Museo Espanol de Arte Contemporaneo in Madrid. The upper quarter contains most of the print, the middle is the colorful area, and at bottom in large print is the word "MIRO"...

Oil on canvas of a female dancer in a long, flouncy dress, cheered on by a number of spectators in the background, measuring 32" by 25" and 39" by 32" framed, signed at lower left by noted, well-listed Spanish twentieth century painter FRANCISCO RODRIGUEZ SANCHEZ CLEMENT (1893-1968). (His father, born 1861, died 1956, painted in very much the same style, and often I believe the works of the two, similarly signed, are confused)...

Beautifully executed drawing in soft pencil, 8 1/2" by 11 1/2" sheet, 6 1/2" by 9 1/2" inside the rectangular border drawn by the artist, and 10 1/4" by 13 5/8" as framed, signed at lower right "Davis F. Schwartz", showing a copse of trees in a hilly landscape. This drawing, which reminds of works by Ralph Holmes or Maynard Dixon, is nicely framed in a 1930's or 1940's frame. Schwartz (1879-1969) has a sizable listing in Hughes' "Artists in California 1786-1940"...

Oil on canvas, relined, measuring 17" by 21" (24" by 28" as framed) signed at upper left in red by listed Italian painter CLAUDIO RINALDI (and below which he wrote "Firenze"---where he was active between the 1860's and 1890's). There doesn't seem to be a lot of information available on the artist, but the subject matter and the handling of the faces are consistent with a number of other works by his hand that have appeared on the market in Europe and America...

Somewhat reminiscent of Wayne Thiebaud's paintings of California's tangled freeways, this is an ink drawing with touches of white gouache, 8 1/2" by 11" (13 3/4" by 15 3/4" as professionally mounted and framed in a light ashy wood), signed at lower left and dated there "Aug '01"by noted, recently deceased California artist ZOLITA SVERDLOVE (1936-2009). This monochromatic drawing captures the essence of the California freeway and its mark on the landscape so familiar to millions...

Max Thorek (1880-1960) was considered one of the outstanding surgeons of all time, but he was also noted as a very talented photographer, his efforts peaking in the 1930's and 1940's when he contributed mightily to the pictorialist movement. This original photograph itself measures 9 5/8" by 12 1/2" (other measurements 12 3/4" by 14 3/4" inside the outer, modern mat, and 17 3/4" by 21 3/4" as framed)...

This is an oil on canvas painting (measuring 7 3/4" by 9 3/4", plus very thin simple wood frame), laid down on a board, by the noted Northern California artist JOHN HENRY RAMM (1879-1948). It is titled on the reverse in the artist's own distinctive handwriting "Looking Down Bush Street" and initialed and dated 1930 (not signed on front, but, this is definitely the artist's way of signing; I have handled a number of his works in the past)...

This is a beautiful, elegant, understated winter landscape oil painting on panel, signed at lower right by noted Avon, Connecticut impressionist painter CONSTANT RAPHAEL FURRICK (1888-1966), measuring 11 1/2" by 15 1/2" (19" by 23" as framed). Strangely, considering the quality of the work, there seems to be little information available on the artist. He was I believe born in Poland. Furrick's work is scarce, with few auction records...

This is an oil on canvas, 20" by 30", signed at lower right "J.B. Radway", who was a 19th century California listed artist, (JESSE B. RADWAY, 1826-c. 1905), but the subject is given on the stretcher as "on the North Cheyenne, Col.". According to the Hughes listing, Radway was born in New York in 1826, and was a resident of Silver Lake, Kansas in 1880, Topeka, Kansas in 1884-85, Alameda, California in 1887, and Vineland, New Jersey in 1900. He is believed to have died in New Jersey in about 1905...

Watercolor and ink on paper, 15 1/2" by 7 1/2" plus 2" of framing on a side, signed at lower right by School of Paris twentieth century French artist JEAN CHEVOLLEAU (1924-1996). Chevolleau is today considered a part of the School of Paris (in fact he is listed in that landmark book by that name). His works are generally modern, some abstract or completely so. Subject matter can be portraits, nudes, landscapes, still life...

For the collector of fine photographs, here is a scarce or rare example of the work of major American photographer IMOGEN CUNNINGHAM (1883-1976). The image is of Anna Freud (1895-1982), the youngest child of famed psychologist Sigmund Freud, taken in 1959. The younger Freud became a specialist in child development and psychoanalysis, and today there is a foundation in London which carries on her work (google "anna freud centre")...

This is a very fine watercolor and gouache painting featuring a number horsemen outfitted in their best formal red riding coats, their accompanying hounds in the heat of the fox hunt. The artist was the very well listed watercolorist ALFRED VILLIERS FARNSWORTH (1858-1908). Farnsworth signed the painting at lower right and dated it there 1906, the year of the great San Francisco earthquake. The detail and sense of motion in the work demonstrates the mastery of Farnsworth...

A large oil on canvas painting of a traditional horse-drawn cart of the Philippines, painted in a striking modernist interpretation, signed at lower right by noted contemporary Filipino artist ROGER SAN MIGUEL (1940-). The works measures 24" by 36" and 31" by 43" in its original blue mid-century frame bearing label from the House of Frames, Angeles City, Philippines (about 80 miles northwest of Manila near the old Clark Air Base). The framing suggests an early date for this work, perhaps 1970....

A rare opportunity to acquire a fine original drawing (13 1/4" by 10 3/8", and 20 1/2" by 16 1/2" in quality mid-century framing) by the world-famous American writer and painter HENRY VALENTINE MILLER (1891-1980).
