An uncommon c1840 miniature by Richard Morrell Staigg, signed lower right. The sitter is a blue-eyed young woman, simply posed in a black dress with lace edging at the bodice. Presented in 1/2 of a dag case. The sight size is 3" by 2 1/4".

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE: Richard Morrell Staig was born in England in 1817 and moved to the U.S. in 1831, first settling in Newport, RI. While there, Staigg studied under Jane Stuart, Gilbert Stuart's daughter...

Small crown watermark on the paper, slight darkening in the corners where the print was mounted, overall in excellent condition. Plate size 134x110mm, paper size 157x127mm.

AMERICAN ARTIST GLENN PIZER “MOUNTAIN SKIERS” Acrylic 28” x 22” Glenn Pizer American Master Artist is known for his visit colors in masterful compositions, and has been painting for over 30 years. He is originally from the Washington DC area. His work is modern and cubist in respect to his use of jagged lines reminiscent of Clifford Still.

Interesting gouache abstract painting in subtle grays and blues, signed on the reverse side of the Crescent art board "Jeannine Isaacs". The piece, measuring 9 3/4" square inside the mat opening, comes in an aluminum frame without glass. I do not see a recognized, listed artist by this name. The art probably dates to the 1970's I would suggest. Condition is excellent.

This is a fine, limited edition wood engraving by the highly regarded American artist THOMAS WILLOUGHBY NASON (1889-1971). The print is signed in pencil at lower right and dated there 1956, when the artist was 67 years old. At lower left in pencil is "Ed. 100". Nason was a Boston-born artist who by the late 1920's had taught himself the fine art of creating prints in the wood engraving process...

19th Century American, "Landscape with Waterfalls". This is a very fine Hudson River School landscape, oil on academy board, 9 3/4 x 18 3/4 inches, c. 1880s, unsigned, in an ornate period gilt frame. Although this painting is unsigned it is quite well painted, evidently by a very competent artist.

A watercolor painting of pine or cypress trees on the coast, perhaps a place like Carmel or Santa Barbara, measuring 14 3/4" by 18 3/4" (20" by 23 1/2" framed). The work is unsigned, (I have opened it up to peek inside, no writing anywhere) and judging from the framing it could date to the 1970's or 1960's. The artist used quality Arches paper (see blind stamp of same). The painting is clean and problem-free; over the years it has slipped inside its mat so will have to be probably re-affixed.
