For the collector of botanical drawings and art, a nice unframed 11 7/8" by 9 3/8" floral watercolor drawing highlighted with a little gum arabic in the nineteenth century tradition. It is not signed, but I think at lower left in old faint pencil it says "yellow aralia", and at bottom, very faint and barely visible, there is a lot of illegible pencil writing. This likely dates to the 1860's to 1880's period...

Oil on canvasboard painting of a young girl, in the style of Margaret Keane and the "Big Eyed School" of the period, 24" by 18", unframed. The work is signed, charmingly, at lower right "Grandpa Friedman" and is dated there "64". The board is curved---a bit concave, or convex, as you might put it---but otherwise the painting is in good condition. A nice addition to your mid century Retro collection.

Acrylic on canvas contemporary painting of palms, depicted in yellow, pinkish-red and greenish-blue against an electric blue background, 18" by 24", unframed, signed at lower right by the artist, Shannon Casey. This is a nicely decorative, breezy work that will surely add a touch of the tropics to your interior. There are a very few minor spots of soiling or abrasion that hardly detract from the overall effect.

A **PAIR** of etchings, 21" by 17" as identically framed, one a still life of flowers in a vase in an interior, the other of a mother holding her child, only the floral work pencil signed, rather illegibly, at lower right (signature beginning with the "Sz...." common in Hungarian), and titled in Hungarian at lower left (as a Hungarian-speaker tells me) "Still Life" or "Flower Still Life". On the reverse backing of one is written in English "from Budapest--July 1966"...

This is the original cartoon art (5" by 16 3/4") for the daily strip of June 26, year unknown, by well known figure in American cartoon art, MERRILL BLOSSER (1892-1983). Blosser drew the comic strip for over 50 years, from 1915 to 1965. He started professionally in 1912 at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, worked for Motor Cycling Magazine, and contributed to Denton Publishing in Cleveland...

The imagery features stately, classic Monterey Cypress trees on the famous foggy coastline. Roudebush was born in Portland, Oregon and moved to Sacramento as a youth...

Likely painted for the southern tourist trade between about 1920 and 1950 or so, is this oil on a slice of palmetto wood, roughly oval shape, approximate dimensions 10" by 13", the slab 1" thick, signed at bottom left in the image "A. Donhauser". This locale could be anywhere from Texas through Georgia, given the Spanish Moss on the tree. The palmetto slab is unusual and adds interest. An unusual item. There is a small loss on the tree trunk.

A collage work in mixed media, by the Los Angeles-area artist IRWIN BROWN (1928-2020), the subject a religious Jew in traditional clothing, holding a Jewish newspaper with prominent Hebrew characters. The work is an impressive mix of techniques----the base image is actually a dot print; but over that, the artist has used acrylic paint, gauze, ink, and heavy gloss varnish to create an original and unique work. Measurements as framed 15" by 15"...

An etching featuring cattle driven through a wood in a storm, 3 1/2" by 5 1/2" inside the mat, 8 1/2" by 10 1/2" in interesting simple wood frame with hand cut design, the work by noted American artist PETER MORAN (1841-1914). The title is "Showery Weather", and the print was issued in the year 1889. Moran was the youngest of the well-known Moran brothers of American art (Thomas, and Edward). He was born in England and was in the United States by 1844...

An old etching of Notre Dame cathedral in central Paris, viewed from the south bank of the Seine river, titled at bottom "Pont de l'Archeveche Paris", artist name K. Gautier (LUCIEN GAUTIER, 1850-1925) at lower left margin. The print measures 9 3/4" by 14 3/4" (13" by 18" in silvery metal framing). There are some fox marks in the field and typical browning/light soiling seen on an antique print; also a slight bit of raising of the paper surface at extreme right corner...

Primary colors are the colors of sunset...reds, oranges, yellow, brown..........the painting was purchased in the San Francisco Bay area but I have no idea as to the origin or identity of the artist. It is a work that shows the artist was skilled with pastel.
