‏This is an intricate aquatint print, 25 3/4" by 29 3/4" (34" by 27 1/4" framed), signed in pencil at lower right by the artist and dated there "60", titled "Jeux d'ete" (Summer Games) at lower center, and numbered 76/210 at lower left, the work by GUILLAUME CORNELIS VAN BEVERLOO, best known by the pseudonym "CORNEILLE" (the French word for "crow"). I believe I was able to locate only one example of this particular print having sold at auction since 1998...

Likely painted for the southern tourist trade between about 1920 and 1950 or so, is this oil on a slice of palmetto wood, roughly oval shape, approximate dimensions 10" by 13", the slab 1" thick, signed at bottom left in the image "A. Donhauser". This locale could be anywhere from Texas through Georgia, given the Spanish Moss on the tree. The palmetto slab is unusual and adds interest. An unusual item. There is a small loss on the tree trunk.

Original oil on canvas by Dorothy Eaton (American/ 1893-1968), signed l.l. "Dorothy Eaton" and dated 1957 on the back. This painting measures 25" by 30". It is in excellent untouched original condition, and is offered in a newer gallery frame. Dorothy Eaton is very well listed, with auction records over ten thousand dollars. She studied at the ASL with Kenneth Hayes Miller. Some of her works are exhibited in the Smith College Museum of Art in Northampton, MA.

Perhaps this is a gentleman's farm property in the eastern states, anywhere from Virginia through Ohio and up to New England. For the last four years, I have researched every aspect of this self-portrait to confirm its artist identity!! Today, I can confirm the artist of this self-portrait, it is ROY FOX LICHTENSTEIN!! I was able to match the 1956 signature to the “rather primitive notion of patterned linear repetition”, or unknown markings (which look like Hebrew) on the side of an airplane in the RFL’s drawing “AIRPLANE 1961”. Similar markings can be found on the RFL’s TEN DOLLAR BILL 1956 Lithograph...

No listed artist comes up with a search for this name, but that does not diminish the quality of the work itself, which probably dates to about the 1940's. There are two missing small areas of paint at left, otherwise condition is excellent. The frame post-dates the art and is pleasant and complementary.
