A Watercolor by the Listed Artist, Kathryne Hail Travis (1894-1972). Travis was a student of Randall Davey, George Bellows, and Kenyon Cox. Measures about 13 1/2" by 9 1/2" matt opening, overall frame about 21 1/8" by 17 1/8". Titled "Fall Aspens on Mon Jeau", Travis has written that "Pic is watercolor sketch in the field for large oil painting in Texas..." Nice example.

Very rare hand carved Baroque Church Putto (Cherub), wood with traces of gilding and polychrome paint, made for corner/angle where 2 walls join. Wood shows 2 cracks, toes of right foot are missing because of age, otherwise in good overall condition. Size: H. 12" x W. 9" x D. 8" Unique collector's item!

This Warren Davis etching measures 7 7/8 x 6 inches, pencil signed, label from Kleemann-Thorman Galleries, New York included, c.1928. This delicately rendered etching is a great example of Davis's images of graceful female nudes, many of which were used for Vanity Fair and Life magazines in the very early 1900s.

Oil on masonite, circa late 1940's or early 1950's, 16 1/2" by 23 1/2" (22" by 31 1/2" as framed), signed at lower left by Pittsburgh artist PERRY DAVIS. This is a beautifully painted work by an obviously talented artist, although I have not to date found a listing on him. There's a label on the reverse of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, 37th Annual Exhibition with the title, and artist's address. The painting has a strong WPA feeling to it...

Heintzelman's skill captures this tender moment between a mother and child. A fine impression with ample margins. Provenance: Baldwin-Wallace College.

Mortimer Menpes, English, 1860-1938, "Interior of St Maclou, Rouen". This etching by Mortimer Menpes measures 12 3/8 x 6 3/8 inches, pencil signed, c. 1902, edition of 50, looking towards the Gothic Baldachin. Menpes attended the School of Art in London in 1878 and started exhibiting at the Royal Academy in 1880. He became a major figure in the etching revival, producing more than seven hundred different etchings and drypoints, which he usually printed himself.

Gouache and pencil on paper, 16 3/4" by 12 1/2" (slightly larger as simply framed), signed at lower left by listed American artist JOHN EDWIN JACKSON (1876-1950). The scene is a genteel one, with a proper southern gentleman and belle, in a grand architectural setting. The artist was very prolific, illustrating many books and magazines in the first half of the twentieth century, yet, little seems to be known about him. Contemporary painting of a young woman in summery attire, teasing the viewer as she clings to her white wide-brimmed hat, 24" by 36", unframed, signed at right by contemporary American artist R. BAILEY. I do not see information on an artist by this name. The painting is reminiscent of classic 20th century pin-up illustration art. It is in excellent display condition.

Oil on canvas of a clapboard cottage by a lake in spring, 18" by 24" with 3" frame, signed at lower left "J.C. FRANCES". I do not see a listing for the artist but he or she was obviously at the very least familiar with the paintings of Henry Pember Smith (1854-1907) and George W. Drew (1875-1968), who painted eerily similar scenes. This painting shows a gambrel roofed cottage with blooming pink blossomed trees and ducks----an idyllic spring idyll in New England or New York state perhaps...

A pencil signed color etching (aquatint), 11 1/4" by 9 3/4" (25" by 22 1/2" framed) by the major French-born artist ANDRE MASSON (1896-1987), numbered at lower left margin 43/50. The title is "Ame Errante" (Wandering Soul) and the work was published in the year 1973. Masson's major oil paintings have exceeded $900,000 at auction, with many over the $500,000 mark, yet his signed prints remain inexplicably affordable...

This is a fragment of a larger 18th century European religious painting. The painting is very well painted in oil on wood with a gesso layer and depicts Christ carrying the cross with a thorn crowned head. Dimensions: 36 cm x 14, 5 cm (14 1/8 in x 5 5/8 in). The wood and the painting has been professionally conserved to protect from further deterioration.
