G." or similar. The ship flies an unidentified flag at the stern. I feel this is likely European though it could possibly be of American origin...

A fine example of the American Master Joe Leatherwood, HARVEST TIME,is a work that culminated the skills of the artist from memory as a child on the family farm in the Southern United States. The work comes framed and is signed below the figure on the right J.L. LEATHERWOOD
A superbly painted portrait of a handsome gentleman, strongly attributed to James Tooley. The sitter has blue eyes, red hair and beard, and is attired in a black jacket, black vest, with a blue-gray waistcoat and cravat.
The artistry shown in this piece is of the highest quality, and the feel and techniques indicate that it was done by James Tooley...
A handsome poster featuring the work "Ocean Park #111" of 1978, that work appearing in an exhibition of 1989 at the Smithsonian Institution's Hirshhorn Museum, publicized in this poster. Measurements as framed behind Plexi, in black metal frame, are 40" by 33 1/2". The artist needs little introduction, as one of the more important American artists of the second half of the 20th century, his works bringing to the $15 million area at auction...
Japanese Artist Tsukioka Kogyo (1866-1919 “Klyotsune” Colored woodblock 15x11”
Pastel on paper laid on board drawing of trees and fields, a shed providing a human element, 7" by 9" (11" by 12 3/4" framed), signed at lower right "R. Nourse". This is a very fine little drawing with a touch of post-impressionist Van Gogh and other artists especially in the branches and trunks of the tall trees. The only listed artist with the name Nourse is Elizabeth Nourse. I see there is a Rebecca Nourse but the time period does not correspond to the drawing which likely dates to the mid...
ONE OF A NUMBER BY THE ARTIST IN MY SHOP**This is a small etching (the sheet 5 1/4" by 7 3/4", respectably matted but not framed), by the noted California artist HARRIET GENE ROUDEBUSH (1908-1998), titled at lower left margin "Fisherman's Wharf" and pencil signed at lower right by the artist. The image features the fishing boats tied up at the wharf, long before today's mass commercialized tourist scene made the area virtually unrecognizable. Roudebush was born in Portland, Oregon and moved to ...
Watercolor and gouache on paper, 5 3/4" by 11 1/2", (10 1/2" by 16" as framed), signed at lower left by a talented and prolific Italian painter, I think one of a large group of painters going under the name "Gianni", possibly from the same family. Other works of such southern Italian scenes are signed M. Gianni. The auction houses I think have generally mixed up these late 19th/first half of the 20th century painters and the auction records are hopelessly tangled and inaccurate. This example see...

Watercolor on paper, 19" by 20" (27 3/4" by 27 3/4" as framed), confidently signed at lower left by professional artist MARINA ULIANOFF, and dated there 1951. I do not see a listing for the name, but, there is a listing for a Los Angeles area artist by the name of Vsevolod Ulianoff (1880-1940), who painted murals like that in the lobby of Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood. I imagine there is a possibility this could be by his wife. In any event, the hand of this artist was accomplished, ...
An extremely well painted American miniature portrait of a young boy wearing a black coat, white shirt and cravat. He is posed in front of a red drapery. Rather than being done as these miniatures usually were, in watercolor on ivory, this is a far rarer oil on copper example.
The painting is in excellent condition, and has just a slight bit of rubbing at a couple of spots where it meets the period stamped brass frame. Sight size is 2 5/16" by 1 7/8", while the framed size is 2 3/4" by 2...
Good-sized watercolor painting of one of the famous canals of Venice, a gondolier and his vessel featured in the foreground, signed at lower left by the artist, B. Venuti. This work, 22" by 15" (31" by 23 1/2" in gilded old oak early twentieth century framing), probably dates to about the turn of the century. I do not see a listing for an artist by this name, though there is a "Benvenuti" who painted similar works, so I entertain the possibility that this might have been signed with a pen name...
