Unique Chinese carved rock crystal double carp snuff bottle. This snuff bottle features two carps reaching upwards against a sea wave base. The smaller carp with it's mouth open and the larger carp with a rock crystal stopper in it's mouth. The double carp is a symbol in Chinese mythology for a happy union in marriage.

This faience figural group was produced in Bologna, Italy by Aurelio Minghetti in the early 1900s. This piece was sold by the retailer “Carbone” of Boston, who handled European imports from about 1910 to 1920. It measures 16 inches high, 9 1/2 inches wide, and 8 inches deep. It is well modeled and hand painted. The garments on the Madonna have colorful detail. There is a feel of serenity and ancient Mediterranean tradition in the piece...

Pair English Porcelain Plates, early 1900's, 9" diameter, Pink and Red Peony Flowering trees in the rock garden in the center, transfer design with raised enamel painted over the glaze in some areas, and cobalt blue color of leaves finished with gold lines over the glaze. Chinese Porcelain Sang de boeuf, Iron Red puppy dog with Celadon glaze, Ca. 1930's, 3 1/4" high, 4" wide x 1 3/4" deep, with curled tail and bell in front of the neck. Underglaze Ox blood and celadon glaze and bottom is unglazed. The condition is good, no damages.

DESCRIPTION: An antique hand-painted ceremonial drum with vivid motifs of large flowers with curling green tendrils against a red ground. Both ends of the drum are covered in animal hide and secured with round-headed metal studs. This highly decorative drum makes a perfect little end table, or adds a touch of exotic to any décor. Very good condition with minor rubbing in spots. DIMENSIONS: 16 5/8” high (42.2 cm) x 15 5/8” diameter (39.6 cm).

A large Chinese tapering two-handled 'palace' vase, Hu in 18th century imperial style, decorated principally around the body on the yellow ground with groups of pomegranate and clusters of bats supporting fylfots, below a wide band of lotus and scrolling foliage, underglaze blue waves in a band at the rim, lappets at the foot, the handles as blue elephant heads, the base with an apocryphal seal mark of the Qianlong emperor (1736-1795) on a turquoise ground...

A Chinese antique pear shaped snuff bottle done in glass overlay with four colours on an opaque white ground...

A Chinese cloisonne enamel dish with a central medallion made to imitate dreamstone outlined with a border enameled with flowers and butterflies on a blue ground with an additional border with flowers on a white ground. The dish is completed with a copper rim in a wave design. The back enameled in the same design around the rim with the center enameled in blue. All with gilded wires. This charger is quite heavy.

Japanese Late 20th Century cloisonné enamel koro (incense burner). Raised wire design of trees. The koro stands on three small feet. The koro measures 6 1/8" tall by 3 1/4" in diameter. Comes with wooden storage box. There is some slight darkening of the color of the body of the piece, in the lower area, from use.

Japanese early 20th century earthenware vase by SUIGETSU. The vase has 2 crabs done in high relief on the side. This type of ceramics was originated by artist Yoshikawa Tsunekata during the Meiji Period. The vase comes with TOMOBAKO, or original artist signed wooden storage box. Japanese E. to Mid 20th century bronze vase by IPPOU. The vase has the design of various sea life creatures, such as octopus and a variety of fish done in fine design and detail. Signed IPPOU on bottom. The vase measures 8 3/4" tall and 5 1.2" in diameter.

DESCRIPTION: A three gallon Roseville stoneware crock with an off-white exterior glaze and dark brown interior. The bottom is inscribed: “3 gal., R.R. P. Co., Roseville, Ohio, USA.” These larger crocks are perfect for your antique kitchen implements such as rolling pins, large wooden spoons, etc. Excellent condition, no chips. DIMENSIONS: 11” high x 11” diameter.

A Chinese shoushan seal carved in its natural form. On one side it shows a man riding a donkey, with another kneeling gathering items under a large tree. The reverse reveals a home in the distance. On this side, there is also a four character carved mark. This seal is carved all around using its natural colours and striations for features within the carving. The base holds the seal. A Chinese duan inkstone housed in a fitted carved box, most probably for a scholar. The box is carved with birds on flowering branches. The box sits on four corner mounts. The stone is carved with a poem. I believe that the box is zitan. (Note: Some of the pictures have been lightened to show the detail.)

A pair of Chinese famille verte enameled porcelain boxes formed as recumbent quails. Realistically modelled, the feathers under green, aubergine and yellow glazes, the interiors glazed turquoise. The underside of the boxes molded with a pair of tucked-in legs, left unglazed. Resting on carved fitted wooden stands.

A pair of Chinese thinly potted Zhadou with a pale blue glaze covering all over. The base rim unglazed. The base glazed the same with a four character Zhengde mark in underglaze blue surrounded by double circles. On carved wooden bases.

A large Chinese blue and white waisted bitong (brush pot). The flared rim over narrowing sides decorated with a continuous scene of figures in a landscape setting meeting others bearing banners with gifts finely painted in rich tones of underglaze blue. In the distance a man leads a buffalo beside a cliff face. The top and bottom with incised scroll borders. The inside glazed white. The base left bare. No markings.

A Chinese Jizhou conical bowl decorated on the inside with a pattern of six paper cut prunis blossoms reserved in a dark brown glaze on top of a lighter brown glaze thinning to the lighter brown glaze at the rim. The reverse in the same glaze with the base left bare revealing the buff coloured body.

I believe that this was done with the lost wax method.

This silver overlay vase was produced in Germany by Friedrich Spar & Company around 1930. Except for a number 21 in red it is not signed but we are certain of its origin. The vase measures 7 inches in diameter. The art deco design is Asian inspired with pink flowers and branches spreading around the porcelain. The ground color is medium blue which contrasts so beautifully with the pink blossoms. The silver work is elaborate. Condition: Excellent

The rarer Katsinas of the some of the Rio Grande Pueblos are stylistically similar to Hopi figures, though often made of pine wood. Hopi Katsinas are made of cottonwood and more simply painted.
