This rare jar has a wide mouth over a short neck with the ovoid body tapering to a short foot. Song dynasty, Henan wares.

These types of jars are made by using clays of two different colours. The top and bottom are then made separate and joined together horizontally.

This is a beautiful dark blue Japanese Uchikake (wedding gown) made in Nishijin, Kyoto. The label states the name of Nishijin and the use of pure gold. The gown is woven with fans and Gosho (palace) flower carts which is one of the favorite motifs used for Japanese wedding gowns. Japanese Musha Ningyo of Jimmu, the First Emperor of Japan, made by Beishu. Beishu has Mukei Bunkazai status (Important Intangible Cultural Property). His Shoki shows great craftsmanship, with silk hair, glass eyes, gofun face and hands, with sumptuous silk brocade. This magnificent sculpture reaches the level of the master work of Beishu, whose work is found in museums and important collections of the Showa Period in Japan. Signed and dated 1960. 20 inches (51cm) high.

Japanese Meiji period scroll painting by the artist, Katsuyo. Ink and color on paper, hanging scroll. The painting depicts a beauty in the rain, holding her umbrella. Signed “Katsuyo”, with one signature seal of the artist. The painting is in very good condition, however, the mounting is broken.
