Condition: Excellent. Unframed.
Katsuhira Tokushi was a true folk artist, as he grew up in rural Akita Prefecture without encountering other artists and their work.

Japanese shin hanga woodblock print titled "Omuro" by Hiroshi Yoshida (1876-1950) dated in the left margin Showa 15 (1940). Post WWII later edition. The artist's black ink stamped signature and red seal is at the lower left. The print is block titled and signed in the lower margin. Illustrated in "The Complete Woodblock Prints of Yoshida Hiroshi," Abe Publications, color plate #240. Paper measures 10 3/4" x 16" (image size: 9 3/42" x 14 3/4"). Very good clean overall condition with full margins...

A large boat-shaped dish with superbly pierced, repoussed and engraved decoration of lotus flower scrolls. Base with "800" silver and "HISAM" maker's mark. Provenance: Swiss-Dutch family living in Indonesia in the first half of the 20th C. Condition: few traces of usage. Dimension: 31 x 23.2 x 7.1 cm, weight: 383 g.

The size of Kamakura-bori Deep Kashi Bowl: 10 3/4"Dia x 1 3/4" High. About 5/8" Thickness. This is prettiest of Kamakura-bori Kashi Bowl ever seen. The bowl is from Showa 13 th, 1938, 76 years old. It is dated on the back as 1938, April 18th. It has beautiful carved design of Ebisu and Daikoku design with Hoju (treasures). Two are from Shichifukujin (seven lucky Gods.). Early edition Japanese shin hanga chuban sized woodblock print by Shoda Koho (1871-1946) titled "Suma Beach" (No. 1252) from a series of twenty-one “Night Scenes” published by Takejiro Hasegawa in the early 1900s circa 1910-1938. Early Showa (1930s) Japanese obidome (sash ornament) of round shape with engraved flowers. Obidome is worn on an obi cord that holds the obi sash together, is the only type of jewelry worn by Japanese women on formal occasions, and could serve as netsuke as well. Very nice work, beautiful patina. Metal fitting on the back with two loops for an obi cord. Diameter 1 1/8 inches.

Man's soft grey silk under kimono with a painted image of Daruma, the Japanese God of Wishes. Two large coins using the shibori technique cross over onto the sleeves. Two pale peach washes are painted across the image area as well as swashes of small metallic gold flecks using the surihaku technique. This is a very soft, light-weight gray silk with a bright green raw silk lining. Dating to 1930s and in excellent condition, this garment measures approximately 51” across and 54” long.
