A set of four fans (uchiwa) made of bamboo and washi (Japanese hand-made paper). Each has hand-painted pictures and signs such as three kabuki "kumadori" which is special makeup of the kabuki player and Otahuku. All have the same written seal marks, however the name of the artist is not clear. Two are painted with kakishibu (persimmon tannin) 20th century. In excellent condition. W:30.5cm H:35.5cm

Chinese carved agate snuff bottle, one side has a fu-dog and a bat, the other side has an old man scholar sitting near a door in a stone wall and another bat, the agate is a pretty light yellowish orange color with white striations of which the figures are carved, lid is reddish orange agate, 20th century.

Katsuda Tetsu(1896-1980) was a Japanese painter from the Taisho(1912-1926) and Showa era (1926-1989).
He studied Western painting at Tokyo School of Fine Arts (now Tokyo University of the Arts). He turned to Japanese painting and became an apprentice to Yamamoto Shunkyo(1872-1933) in 1923...
Red Tole deep Tray for Bread or Fruit, 12 1/4" x 8" wide, 3 5/8" high, Rose branch in the center and floral vines inside under the top rim, the condition is good.
Japanese 20th century tea bowl. The shallowly thrown tea bowl has beautiful gray coloration. Stamp on artist on bottom. The foot of the bowl was hand rolled and pressed onto the bottom of the bowl. The bowl measures 2 1/8" tall, 4 3/4" in diameter at the top and 2 1/4" in diameter at the base.
