Nursery rhyme-themed sterling silver porringer. Made by Tiffany in New York. Round and curved. Handle solid and curvilinear with goose neck mounts. On handle is low-relief depiction of Old King Cole, who has "called for his pipe and called for his bowl." A dense olden-days scene with no room for the "fiddlers three." Impressive Mashiko iron glazed jar with impressed design by Sakuma Totaro (Japan, Mashiko, 1900-1976). Circa 1950s. In excellent original condition. 21cm high, 19cm across. Sakuma Totaro was one of the most important potters in Mashiko in the 20th century, as well as Shoji Hamada's friend and "partner in grime" (Robert Yellin).

Two very playful Southeast Asian panthers skillfully carved from red palm wood. They can be displayed on any one of 3 sides and look as thought they were designed to be viewed in whatever position you place them. The wood is heavy and dense feeling very much like a hardwood and weighs about 3 lbs. In excellent vintage condition, they measure 9.5 inches long by 5 inches high. Dates early 20th century.

A Large Hammered Sterling Silver 1927 Golf Trophy from Sedlacek & Co. in Los Angeles. Blue enamel logo "A G C" with golf clubs. Engraved "Invitational Tournament 1927" and "Second Flight Winner." Measures about 9 1/4" across and 7" tall. Weighs about 37 ounces, this is not the silver weight, as the base is weighted. Impressive piece, being sold as-found, has dings to top edge, crimping and excess solder where bowl is attached to pedestal and scattered flaws. Nice period example.

Fine LARGE Glazed Stoneware Studio Pottery Jar - Malcolm Pepper

This large and impressive stoneware jar was made by Malcolm Pepper (1937 - 1980) during the 1970s. It is "heavily-potted" and attractively decorated. Looking inside shows it was thrown in two sections, luted together at the widest part of the body. The outer surface coated in a finely-crackled transparent glaze that has a hint of green. The inner surface coated in a dark iron glaze.

Brilliant Cut Glass Hinged Box - This box, all original, is a very unusual size, as the glass lid is considerable smaller than the jar itself. I don't know patterns, and it is not signed, but I do know that its quite lovely, the top matches the bottom, and its in perfect condition. It measures 4 1/4" tall x 5" diameter on the top and 6" diameter on the bottom.

Large Chinese low bowl painted in blue hues against a white ground with a bluish hue. This bowl features two deer, the male and female under a large tree. The underside of the bowl has three evenly spaced sprigs. The base and rim have been left unglazed. Unmarked.

Chinese carved and pierced jade plaque mounted on a carved wooden stand. This stone is a pale green with white and lavender striations. 19th century netsuke of a sitting boy holding a turtle with one hand, and trying to break its shell with a stone that he holds in the other. Unusual subject, strong early carving, wonderful wear consistent with age, beautiful patina with yellowing on the back, where netsuke was touching silk of the kimono. Nice textile patterns, Height 1.41 inches.

Center bowl of opalescent glass with irregular aventurine patches floating in pools of clear teal-blue. Slightly irregular oval, almost egg shaped, bowl measures a (HUGE!) 19 inches (48 cm) by 13 (33 cm) and is 2.5 inches (6 cm) deep. Bowl has a flat bottom with a polished pontil and retains its blue and silver Murano Glass, made in Italy label. Likely an Ermanno Toso design of 1950/1960. Excellent condition, no chips, cracks or repairs. Circa 1960.

Chinese famille rose porcelain double gourd vase with various flowers and butterflies painted on a white ground. The base border is painted with alternating bats, flowers and fruits all in iron red. The top rim is covered in gilt, complete with an iron red surrounding border. In the middle is a ribbon. The inside is glazed white, as well as the base with the base rim left unglazed. In the center of the base is a four character over-glaze iron red Jiaqing mark 1796-1820.

A Durand glass, blue iridescent vase, made around 1925 by Vineland Glassworks - the iridescence is similar to Steuben's, 'Aurene' and Tiffany's, 'Favrile'. The vase is 8 inches tall and 4 1/4 inches wide. Polished pontil. It is in fine condition (there is a spurious, 'LCT' at the bottom). Like many Durand glass objects, the vase is unsigned - it is guaranteed to be by Durand in their Shape Number 1730 (please refer to page 160 of Meschi's book for this vase-shape).

Offered is this pair of exceptional, cameo-etched Bohemian glass floor vases - the vases are monumental-sized (each vases is approximately 20 inches or 51 cm tall and 8 inches or 20 cm wide). The ruby-flashed vases are in excellent condition (there are a few fabrication flaws in the form of bubbles, typical of hand-made glass articles (see last picture). Unsigned - probably made by Moser. N.B. Because of the large sizes of the vases, shipping cost to Australia and non-west-European countries ...
