Fine Japanese miniature garden kit, all made with natural material, ca 1940-1960, original wood box. We used a simple cardboard box as a tray with small black pebbles under. You can created/draw water if the sand is used instead. The dimension of the box are 15 3/4” x 7 3/16” x 3 5/8”. Fence: 9 1/8 long (flattened for storage) x 3 3/4” high. This Chinese ivory carving of an open clam is a mid 20th century product. There are nine people resting, walking or sitting on a cart inside the clam. They are surrounded by pine trees. This large carved ivory vessel with handle is a mid 20th century product. It has a dragon shaped handle and nine dragons, clouds and ocean wave motif covering its body. It is 13 ½” high, 10 1/8” wide from the widest part and 4 ½” thick from the middle part. There are two repaired crack lines along the side of the vessel. Because the crack lines are on the side, they are not obvious. There is a honorific Qian Long mark on the bottom.

This well carved ivory incense burner with hard wood fitted base is a mid 20th century product. It is 5 1/8” high (with base is 6 ¼” high), 4” wide and 2 ¼” thick. This contemporary ivory carving is 1 ¾ inches tall and 1 ½ inches wide. It depicts a seated German Shepherd. The carving is interesting. It seems the carver was quite familiar with dogs. It is in very good condition.

This 1970¡¯s Chinese carved polychrome bone statue is 6 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide. It depicts a cricket sitting on a Chinese cabbage (Napa). There is a red plant wrap around the bottom of the cabbage. The technique of carving and dying is superb. It is in great condition.

This carved ivory statue of a girl holding a flower basket was carved around 1970. It is 7 inches tall (with the base, it is 8 ¼ inches high), 2 inches wide and 1 ½ inches thick. Her left hand is holding a woven flower basket and her right hand is gently grabbing the tassels from the basket. It is in excellent condition.

A nice vintage leather box embossed “Studs” on the top. Most of these boxes are round, but this example is a much more uncommon horseshoe, the lid also embossed with a horseshoe. These boxes were original intended to store shirt studs or cufflinks, but can be used for any variety of gentleman’s accessories.

This white and pink carved coral piece was made around 1960. The artist used the natural coral shape to create two dragons. It is 5 ¼ inches tall and 6 ½ inches at the widest part. Though the subject is common, the carving and polish are very well done. It is in great condition.

This rare, modernist bowl is quite exquisite. It is made by Aage Wiemar, Denmark. It has an approximate diameter of 3" and stands about 7/8". The bottom of the bowl is marked PURE SILVER AAGE WEIMAR DENMARK and has 4 other maker's marks/hallmarks below the above. The third mark is 9584. The bottom also has marks that are made by hand. The bowl/dish weighs just over 4 ounces.

A finely crafted pumpkin shaped Zisha clay Yixing stoneware teapot decorated on one side with applied pumpkin vine decoration. This item carries three seal marks which all bear the name Shi Yu Zhen. A sterling silver corkscrew by International Silver in one of the company’s 1930s Art Deco designs. Clearly patterned after the popular Scandinavian designs of the period, this design is very similar to “Royal Danish”, “Sonja” and “Norse”. The handle is marked with International’s older hallmark and the pattern number “NX14”.

Wonderful sterling repousse teapot by S. Kirk & Son measuring 7 1/2" tall x 7 1/2" wide including handle. The markings on the bottom are 418AF, Sterling, Hand Decorated. This piece is absolutely beautiful!

A Substantial Gorham Sterling Silver Rectangular Platter for Black, Starr and Frost. It is 14" square and 1" deep in dimensions and weighs 28.2 Troy ounces. Dates from the 1920's. Mint condition. It has a monogram on the edge (see picture).

This is a beautiful ladle measuring 12 3/4" in length. The bowl is in the shape of a large shell, and there is a lion engraved on the handle. There are four marks on the back of the handle which I tried to photograph. The first long one I can't make out, the second is the head of a lion with a crown on his head, the third is a full lion, and the last has initials which I believe to be HB. I believe the ladle to be Georgian.

A vintage sterling silver vermouth dispenser in the form of a syringe by Gorham. These were called “Martini Spikes” when sold by Gorham in the 1960’s. The functioning plunger allows vermouth to be drawn up into the syringe and then dispensed in precisely-calibrated medical dosages into your favorite cocktail. The syringe originally cost $10 as is indicated on the original order form that accompanies this example. It also includes the original fitted box (though in poor condition).

A fascinating letter composed by the noted Chinese artist, Xu Beihong (1895-1953). The letter is addressed to a Mr. Fu Wen and discusses about an exhibition and several works of art that Xu Beihong was expressing his congratulations to the person he was writing to. Letter signed by Xu Beihong. Age; 20th century. Size: Length 15.25" Height 12.25"

Each cake is molded with designs of scholars on the fronts and raised calligraphy on the reverse. The designs on the front are all gilded in two shades of gold, and the reverse has gilt seals and some script gilded as well. Each piece is unused and is in good condition.

A mounted two line calligraphy attributed to the Buddhist monk, Hong Yi (1880-1942). Born as Li Shutong, Hong Yi was received his education in Japan specializing in Western painting and music. Li returned to China and taught at various educational institutions. From 1916, Hong Yi became ordained monk. The calligraphy is thought to be an excerpt from the Avamtsaka Sutra, or in Chinese, Da fang guan fo huayen jing.
