An exceptional bellarmine jug or Bartmannskrug as they are called in Europe. Made in Germany, cologne region, probably Frechen, late 16th. century AD., and exported to Holland, as it's bearing a medallion with the Coat of Arms of Amsterdam.

On the globular jug, a strong head of a bearded man with classic naturalistic features. Below the long beard, an oval medallion with the crowned coat of arms. Fine Tiger-glaze ware piece.

Probably, our finest and surely the heaviest silver icon, we've had for a while! Russian Orthodox icon with an amazing wrought and chisseled Oklad, dating 1871.

This is NOT the usual foliage thin silver sheet oklad but a a heavy thick hammered and chisseled silver oklad in a baroque style with relief heads in each corner and weighing several 100s of grams in .84 silver. Fine gilt to the details. The icon itself with four saints and Christ with halo in the sky.

A huge white bronze / early brass mortar of the finest execution, likely apothecary, incl. pestle, Northern Europe, ca. 1690.

A nice early transition type of a later design that became popular in the 18th. century. Very elaborate and finely cast and with a nice colour.

Size: ca. 18 cm. from handle to handle, 17,3 cm. wide at the rim and 15 cm. tall. The Pestle is ca. 25,7 cm. long and the set weighs around 5 kilograms.
