Twelve eight pointed stars made of cotton printed in orange with small yellow clover-like shapes arranged in rows of twos and threes with alternating white squares all enclosed in three bands of the same printed fabric. The outside band is turned over the edge to join the white cotton backing. Cotton seeds visible in the stuffing. All hand stitched. Very good quilting with running feathers and cross stitching over much of the surface. There is an embroidered, “E” on the back in one corner. 7...

A well made 18th century Italian dry drug jar. The body is a red clay covered with white slip then painted in blue with a dentil style pattern at the top and bottom with the name of the drug in the central section. The inside is similarly covered in white slip and shows the ridges from being turned on a potter’s wheel. This jar would have been part of a set of jars used for dry drugs in a pharmacy. 7 ¼ inches tall and 4 ¾ inched diameter. (18.5 cm tall, 12 cm diameter).

An oil on Masonite painting of a red roofed mill with the mill pond in the foreground and a barn against a hill in the distance. Painted in an unusual palette that includes lavender. I have been unable to find a listing for the artist. In a new frame. 10 by 12 inches, with frame 12.5 by 14.5 inches.

Condition: excellent.

Though it is difficult to date, I suspect it is from the middle of the 20th century and most likely to be American.

2 albumen photographs pasted back-to-back on one page taken from a larger album. These are posed photographs, presumably of the teams. One is the Polo team and the other is I think the Cricket 11. Underneath both in pen is the notation, “Sandhurst 1877,” this refers to the Royal Military College at Sandhurst. The polo players is 8 ¼ x 10 ½ inches and the Cricket players 8 3/8 x 10 ¾ inches.

Two albumen photographs of the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Dualah at Agra, India. Neither is signed and though they are probably by different photographers they complement each other as one is a close up of the tomb while the other gives it some context in the surrounding garden.

The longer view is 8 5/8 (22 cm) by 11 3/8 (29 cm) inches with a card 14 (35.5 cm) by 17 (43 cm) inches. It is laid down to the cardboard.

The strainer form in delft is sometimes referred to as a cress bowl or a strawberry bowl. Three plates with a blind molded basket weave border and swirled ribs the way Coalport molded plates in the early part of the 19th century. The hand painted flowers in a central bouquet and four single flowers on the lip are very much in the early Coalport style. The plates are 9 ¼ inches (23.5 cm) in diameter.

A group of three engravings probably by Johannas and Raphael Sadeler of Christian anchorites or hermits. The prints are after Maartin De Vos. These images were widely circulated in the early 17th century and printed and re-engraved by engravers other than the Sadelers. Three metal martini glasses stamped on the bottom "MADE IN/HSIANG YUN CO./HANKOW." Hankow (Hankou) is part of the present day city of Wuhan. In the early 20th century the city contained five foreign concessions.

Three plates with orange ground lip, transfer border on the edge of the well and the center hand painted with different complex bouquets of wild flowers. All have the Royal Worcester mark on the bottom with the date of 1877 below. Also, the number 9522/A (?) is written in overglaze enamel. The plates are 9 inches (23 cm) diameter.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Some gilding wear on the edges and minor scratches.

4 Clingnancourt hard paste porcelain dinner plates with shaped edge, an elaborate gilt rim, a continuous band of hand painted roses and leaves and in the well of the plate rose sprigs. All with the Clignancourt stencil mark in red on the underside. 9 ¾ inches (25 cm) diameter.

A set of four blind molded dinner plates 8 7/8 inches (22.5 cm) diameter with charming overglaze hand painted floral decoration and gilt rims. Though unmarked, this molded lip is unique to Coalport and dates to around 1820. The arrangement of the floral bouquets on the plate was a popular one, starting in the 18th century.

Four hand painted blue and white Dutch delft tiles joined with grout on a soft board in the manner in which they would have appeared on a wall. Roughly 10 ¼ x 10 ½ inches (26 x 27 cm). Minor damage at the edges.

A set of six hand painted porcelain plates with floral bouquets in the well and a gold band around the edge. The mark of KPM with the initials and the scepter in underglaze blue was used from 1837 to 1844. The size would indicate that they are dessert plates, though they are deeper than most. They are 7 inches diameter (18 cm) and 1 inch (2.5 cm) deep.

Condition: excellent, no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Showing only some evidence of light use.

A set of eight hand painted porcelain plates with scenic views as listed below. The lips with a peach ground and some gilding. Located in the center of each plate is the hand painted scene. The pattern number “833” and the location, painted in script in red enamel, is on the back of most of them. They were made and decorated in Britain, possibly Aynsley, circa 1880. 8 7/8 inches (20.3 cm) diameter.

A hand painted blue and white tile of a wolf, at least that is what it looks like though the head is a little odd, in profile running to the left. The animal is surrounded by a circle of a wavy line with dots in the wave troughs. Flowers fill the corners. It is 5 1/8 inches (13 cm) square about ½ inch (1.2 cm) tall. The red clay sides are beveled so that the back is slightly smaller than the front. This style of decoration was used in the 2nd quarter of the 17th century.

A underglaze blue hand painted blue and white export plate depicting three sprigs of flowers enclosed in a lobed border with fleur- de-lis and on the outer border a loosely painted fence. The outer edge is painted brown. Given the vague Western references in the decoration the plate is probably after 1750. 8 7/8th inches (22.5 cm) diameter.

Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Very minor stacking wear. Minor firing flaws.
