A charming, diminutive Ming sculpture of a musician, measuring 4 inches in height. The face has been carefully modeled, as the photos will, hopefully, confirm. The glaze is in excellent condition. This 17th century carved polychrome wood head of Guan Yin (Goddess of Mercy) is 15 inches tall, 7 inches wide and 7 inches in depth. The solid teak wood base is 3 ¼ inches high, 9 inches wide and 8 ¾ inches in depth. This statue was part of the collection of a professor who spent over 20 years in China. Some of the color has come off and there is a long crack on the back of her head due to the age of this statue.

Ming Dynasty, Ca. early 1500s

This dish is decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with a design of three men playing a game of “go.” It was recovered from a shipwreck site in the Southern Philippines off the coast of Mindanao. There is a slight pitting to the glaze overall from years of submersion. There is also a tiny rim chip and very small areas of rim fritting. Well-carved with the face in a pleasant expression with beautiful lips and almond-shaped eyes, flanked by elongated earlobes and his hair in a four leaf style, which is extremely rare. We never have seen that type of hair on the antique market before.

A rare Ming Zhengde/Jiajing blue and white tripod censer decorated with two dragon and flowers at the body. there also has head of kilin at the leg and under the handle. 28cm high until end of the handle. 20cm body diameter. Conditions: Body of the censer is in good conditions. except broken at upper handle already repaired, broken at one leg has been attached back. Geyao cup in a very nice Song Dynasty inspired shape. Seventeenth century. The brown clay to the base seems to be the original grey stoneware which turned to a dark brown during the firing process. It seems not just to be a brown slip which covers the unglazed body to the base which would be typical for Qing pieces their intention it is to pretend a Song Dynasty piece. Diameter : 5 cm. This form of jug called a monk's cap is of Tibetan origin. The model was adopted in China from the beginning of the 15th century and very appreciated. Monks' cap jugs were made of porcelain. Ca. 1600s

This incense burner is cast bronze in a bombe form, having a brownish patina with small patches of verdigris. The base is caste with a six-character Xuande mark (though not of the period). The interior shows evidence of long use and has some areas of verdigris. It is set on a flaring footring which echoes its rather thick flaring lip. There is evidence of wear and use and some tiny nicks to one handle. It is in generally good condition. Purchased in London in 1978.
