A large Korean brass bowl that was used for mixing and preparing food in the kitchen during the late Joseon Dynasty. The bowl has been shaped and formed by pounding the brass(wrought). The resulting hammering marks can be seen on the surface of the bowl. The bowl measures 4 1/2" high x 13 3/4" in diameter, and dates to the early 20th Century. Impressive large standing wood sculpture of He Xiangu何仙姑- the only women in the pantheon of the Eight Chinese Immortals. This is at least Qing dynasty possibly earlier originally she would be holding a lotus in her hands. Once source describes her as being “the Patron Saint of Housewives”. The whole is dyed in Katazome. The part of the hem is drawn in Tsutsukaki.
A rich family used Katsugi at the time of ceremonial occasion. This type of Katsugi was used in a part of Yamagata mainly. Jyofu-hemp Edo Katsugi often generally has heavy damage, but this item does not have damage at all.The width of Katazome is 13cm.

This old wood netsuke figure is 3 inches tall and 1 inch wide. It depicts a long haired, bearded sage (or hermit) holding a staff. It is not signed and is in great condition.
Japanese Pink Glass Ojime Bead, 11/16" diameter, cord go through the large holes on the top and the bottom, to tightening for the Netsuke. There are some indentation on the surface and the open grains on the surface of the glass.
A marvelous oval shaped Chinese tortoise shell box with enameling featuring a bamboo and floral pattern with auspicious symbols on a carved top and the side bands. An interior mirror under the fitted lid shows some age related wear. The tortoise shell is in excellent antique condition, no cracks and there is no visible loss to the enamel. This is a rare treasure which displays beautifully. Measures 6 inches long, 5" wide, 1.5 inches high. Circa 1880.
22 inches long and a century of hard use but the tip is clean and sharp. I suspect a skilled carpenter could still use this old Chinese drill to build a cabinet or post and beam house. Personally, I am so thankful for electrical tools.
