Chinese Tang dynasty or five dynasties yue yao lobbed bowl. 11 cm diameter. bowl has few small chipped at the rim (please see on the picture) Free from any repair.
This Indonesian container would have been carried by a man using the handmade string as a shoulder strap. The "purse" was hand carved out of a local hardwood and both the top and bottom have decorative details.
The container sits stably on it base but can also be hung on the wall as an interesting sculpture artifact.

A large and beautifully potted blue and white ginger jar. It is a scene of a dragon and phoenix chasing after the "Pearl of Fire" between heaven above and the sea below. Both the dragon and the phoenix are elaborately drawn with much details. The ginger jar also has the original porcelain cover as well.

19th century tall netsuke carved as a dancing fox standing on its hind legs with its front paws raised to one side and its tail erect. This particular model seems to represent the Inari fox - the benevolent and well disposed creature, being the messenger of the God of rice and harvest, as opposed to the other foxes, which are generally believed to be evil creatures. Strong carving, very clever design, black ink highlights, great expression with a hint of a smile on its face, does not stand on it...
This wood carving of a RuYi scepter with hard stone inset is a late 19th or early 20th century product. It is 14” long and 3 ¾” wide from the head of the scepter. It depicts several Lingzhi around an old tree branch. In Chinese mythology, Linzhi is a supernatural mushroom and represents longevity. There is a carved Lingzhi shape hard stone inset on the scepter head. It is in very good condition.
This is a lovely ancient Egyptian Scarab, 800-664 BC?, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 5/8” long (16 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.
Chinese porcelain figure of a seated Daoist monk. The monk's skin is left unglazed, his draping robes and seat with Sancai "three colors" of yellow, green, and dark purple underglazes. One of the figure's ears is pierced through for gas to escape during kiln firing.

A very large and impressive terracotta figure of Aphrodites.
She is depicted as a beautiful and voluptious deity, completely naked, bending her right knee, thus twisting her body slightly. Her hands are held up holding on to a couple of bands that possibly would have held a textile veil in place. She is wearing a large snake-ring jevellery bracelet on her right thigh.

Japanese Shino ware ceramic chawan or tea ceremony bowl. Shino ware is easily identified by thick white glazes, red scorch marks, and a texture of small holes. One side of the bowl has dark brown underglaze design of flowers while the opposite side has flecks and lines, along the dramatic ribbed edges of the body. The foot of the bowl is formed flattened and is left bare without any glaze.

An antique jade stone with landscape pattern in it
This is a terrific bronze bell from the Khmer culture in ancient Viet Nam or Thailand (circa 1200 AD). It weighs 250 grams and measures 6.8cm across the opening. It shows no signs of repair or restoration. It has a fantastic green/blue patina and there are even remnants of cloth or wood fibers mineralized in the surface.
An antique Japanese Tohoku Tansu made of beautiful Keyaki Burl root (Zelkova) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. Original finish and hand made iron fittings including stylized Kakute handles.
