This cloth doll has very dear oil painted face with great soft blue eyes. She has leather hands that could be original by the way they are put on. (I bet some mother was proud of herself for thinking of using old children's gloves for unique hands!) She has the body form, like so many cloth dolls, that looks like they were meant to ride a horse. The stance gives her the look of authority. She is cotton stuffed rather firmly and because she is not jointed she is pretty much a standing doll...

SIGNED litho by English arts & crafts designer CHRISTOPHER DRESSER(1834-1905) published by A. Goater, Nottingham, England, c.1870's-1880's. It is signed "Dr. DRESSER, Inv" and "A. GOATER LITHO. NOTTM."-see photos #3&4. This wonderful piece shows a series of three horizontal designs with a cocoa brown background and black ink designs. Each design measures 10" by 3 3/4" and the overall litho measures 14 3/" by 10". The total with the frame is 23" by 18"...

A terrific folding paper knife, the body covered in the colorful “Caledonia” tartan. The blade is carved from bone and has a locking mechanism just as any other pocket knife would have. These are sometimes called fruit knives, but I’m reasonably certain they were intended for use as paper knives or letter openers. Tartanware became popular after Queen Victoria caused a rage for all things Scottish through her love of Scotland.

Early cloth rag doll with drawn pencil face and mitten hands. She is firmly packed with cotton. She is wearing a very worn but nice blue plaid dress with velvet trim, pantaloons and black socks. She is the epitome of the rag doll that every little girl had, sort of the poor girls American Girl. She has seen lots of play and wear and tear but is still hanging in there...

From our European Collection, a fine 19th century Victorian wheel barometer, featuring a black lacquered wood casing inlaid with mother of pearl, swan neck pediment, silvered barometer dial, bow-front thermometer, hygrometer, spirit level, and with an ivory setting knob. Maker unknown. A very elegant and refined example.

Antique hand carved stylized panel Woodcarving depicting wise man, demon and several animals, condition good, some wear due to age, early 19th Century China, size: L. 48" x H. 19" x D. 2", nice decorative/architectural element!

This pair of covered vases or ginger jars was produced in France by E. Claus in the late 19th century. They measure 5 inches high, including the lids and are approximately 3 1/2 inches in diameter. The fine hard paste porcelain is expertly hand painted with vibrant sprays of flowers. There are tiny sprigs and buds dotting the surface. The decoration has some similarity to work done by Dresden and Meissen. The lids and bottom of the vases are trimmed with gold...

A Pair of Victorian Bristol Glass Vases, with Hand Painted Florals, Ruffled Rims and Unfinished Pontils. Height 9.5". Excellent condition.

Lovely large silver plate tray with beading center decoration and trim, with beading around the edges. It has raised handles with wood in the center, and small raised feet. I can't find any markings on it, but it is definitely old and lovely. It measures 26" long by 19" deep and can easily hold a lovely tea set.

Royal Worcester porcelain scent bottle decorated in the style of Japanese Satsuma. The design features a Geisha and a fish on one side and a lady with a fan on the other. The silver CAP is stamped with the hallmarks for Birmingham, England, 1891. The pieces measures: 2 1/4" high by 1 7/8" wide by 1/2" deep. View

Three Yixing or Zi Sha tea bowls, the interior and the base glazed in turquoise, the exterior with four characters in white glaze. One a little greener than the others, and marked “Import”. China, c 1900. Condition: fine, except for a glaze loss near the border of one bowl, caused in fabrication (cf. pics). Height: "2/ 4,8 - 5 cm and diameter "2 ½ - 2 ¾ / 6,5 - 7 cm.

Royal Copenhagen cup and saucer with gold trimming. The cup is adorned with a crown and a calligraphy design. Both cup and saucer are stamped with the maker's mark of Royal Copenhagen. The saucer is 5 inches in diameter and the cup is 3 inches in diameter and 2 inches in height.

A very nice Victorian lacquered papier-mache folding corner shelf decorated with Chinese court scenes depicting a pair of noble ladies relaxing amidst their finery. The design is worked in gold and silver metallic inks and is accented with iron red and flesh-tone colors. Lacquered papier-mache with Chinese motifs were popular in both England and France, and the style of this example suggests and English origin...

Hand carved giltwood letter "O". Gilt letters and numbers from 19th century trade signs have great graphic appeal and offer a fun opportunity to try to put together your name or initials.

A Japanese 19th century Banko ware teapot. Modelled as a leather pouch with a plissé edge and ties forming a handle (where the potter’s finger prints are visible). Enamelled flowers and relief moulded decoration of geese in white clay. Traces of gilt around edge and spout. Banko mark. No lid. Height “3½/ 9 cm, width including handle “6/ 15 cm. Condition: fine
