Antique Korean porcelain moon vase (dalhangari). Oval form with wide mouth. Glazed with transparent, very pale bluish tinted glaze.

Korean white porcelain was prized by members of the royal court during the Joseon Period. Special kilns were established by the court to exclusively produced these beautiful white porcelain vessels.

In the world of Japanese ceramics, Tamamizu-ware has an almost mythical standing. A branch of the main Raku line, at one time the two kilns held equal prominence, both being endorsed by the major tea schools of Kyoto and both being favored by the Imperial household. The first in the line was an illegitimate son of Kichizaemon Ichinyu (Yahē) who studied under his father and then left to open his own kiln in the village of Tamamizu (known today as Ide-cho)...

An archaic style Chinese jade object in the style of Han burial Jade objects. Top contains a motif of mythical beasts and the center section is incised with scrolling vines with a circular hole carved out in the center.The clear line seen below the beasts is a plastic wire to attach the jade piece on the black felt panel. This pair of late 19th or early 20th century Mille Fleurs (thousands flowers) bowls are 2 ¾ inches tall and 5 ¾ inches in diameter. Hundreds of different flowers cover the outside of the bowls. A similar design about an inch wide is painted inside the bowls. They have an honorific Qian Long mark on the bottoms. The workmanship is wonderful. The gold trim on the rims has slightly rubbed off. They are in great condition.

A Chinese Lang-yao red glazed bottle vase from Qing Dynasty, late 18th or 19th century. The vase is in perfect condition, no chip, no crack, no restoration. The neck of the vase is slightly lean to one side when it is viewed from certain direction, please see photo number 2 for reference. Height of the vase: 15-1/4".

Width approximately 10.4 cm (across the handles). There is a soft dent at the body. In good condition.

Ch¨­sen Karatsu (³¯õrÌƽò) Chawan with a fantastic vivid glaze. It dates from the late Edo Period, no cracks, no repairs.

This traditional style was introduced by one or more potters brought from the Joseon Dynasty during the Japanese invasions of Korea. It features a black glaze placed under a white glaze which has been fired with straw. The two glazes run together and give a feeling of opposites.
