This long and slender carved tortoise shell snuff bottle is an early 20th century product. It depicts a PiXiu (貔 貅 or 辟 邪) sitting on the top of rocky mountain, surrounded by clouds. PiXiu is a Chinese mythical creature that is considered to be a very powerful protector regarding the practice of Feng Shui. Not only can it protect an individual or a family, it will also draw wealth from all directions. It is 3 7/8” long, 1 ½” wide and ¾” in depth...

Rare and endearing figure of a young boy disciple of Quanyin (the Goddess of Compassion) wearing a garment etched with a lotus flower - the symbol of Buddhism. He is often depicted near Quanyin with his hands in reverential prayer. The bronze is heavily cast and has wires imbedded underneath the pedestal, perhaps for attaching to a group of figures. This is a finely carved and molded Quartz Hair crystal Snuff Bottle in a rectangular form with a round neck, and and a raised oval footing.
