This was the traditional jacket used by girls of the Yi Chinese ethnic Minority. Girls wore this style until they were married. This garment is small and was most likely worn by a child between 7-10 years old. This antique Chinese silk wall hanging is embroidered with mounted soldiers carrying banners across a mountainous terrain. Silk background fabric with a wide silk border, the tapestry is approx 60 inches tall and 28 inches wide. The fabric is in very good condition. This tapestry conservatively dates to the mid 1800's. While the detail of the embroidery is clearly visible, some of the embroidered threads are abraided and worn, which is typical of a textile of this technique and age.

Qing meiping vase.

A Longquan celadon dish decorated with nice of twin fish at interior center and incised floral sprays to cavetto side, covered overall with an olive green glaze, possibly Yuan/Ming dynasty in good condition except firing imperfection to be expose major orange peel effect, perhaps as an item that do not qualify but still in export. Somebody tried to polished the foot rim, otherwise is no any chip, no crack and free from restoration. Diameter: 27 cm.

This baby carrier is from the Miao ethnic minority of Qui Yang. Characteristic of the antique Miao baby carriers from this area, the surface decoration is composed of very tiny cross stitches which form geometric embroidery pattern which, to Western eyes, resemble snowflakes...

Charming Qing Dynasty Chinese pot used for warming wine or saki. Hot water would be poured into the main container and the small pot would hold the wine. Made of pewter or low grade silver with bronze fitting. each side of the outer pot has minor scratches on the surface.

A properly dressed Chinese woman would wear a pair of leggings to cover her lower legs from the bottom of her skirt to the top of her lotus shoes. The leggings would be tied into place with a hand woven sash made specifically for that purpose. These lotus shoe accessories are now rare and very hard to find. See my listing TC236 and ZTC233. This pair of leggings are purple satin weave fabric with ribbon and silk embroidered trim at the cuffs. There is some ares of fade on the basic fabric.

This antique Chinese civil rank badge has the golden goose representing 4th rank. Embroidered using brick stitch this badge is has a fret background,key border and is decorated with bats, turtles and flowers. Curiously the sun is missing but the badge is old and still has the remnants of a few threads which were used to sew it to the front of the robe. The badge has traditional blue silk lining and is in excellent condition...

Beautiful pair of Chinese blue cloisonne mystical animals, possible Qilins, from the 19th century. The animals are beautifully rendered in bronze with whimsical cloisonne details.
