Very Rare Chinese Han Dynasty Painted Pottery Ding with Human-shaped Feet

This unusual pottery tripod vessel, or "ding", was made during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8). It is made from a grey pottery, relatively highly-fired, both body and cover having a distinct ring when tapped. This is an Amygdaloidal Basalt , well hollowed, of circular form, with a round neck, a flat, wide lip, and a recessed oval foot surrounded by a footrim. The background is dark gray, almost black, and the attractive mineral inclusions of various shapes are light brown, blue, gray and some shades of red. Some of them have multicolor burst like forms. Chinese porcelain snuff bottle with blue cobalt underglaze designs of a flying dragon and a serpent in rolling waves below, gazing at each other. There are clouds and red/green glaze flames.
