The condition of the glaze of the bowl is so perfect and glossy that it simply is impossible that this bowl an excavated piece. Wonderful pair of Chinese cloisonne elephants, each one sits on it's rear end with trunk high in the air, decorated all over with beautiful cloisonne motifs, these pieces are actually containers! The heads come off to reveal little domed lids, these also come off to reveal containers! Each elephant sits on a stand. Beautiful and charming! Early 20th century. A rare large deep dish, of Imperial quality, very finely painted in shades of iron red depicting two five clawed dragons amongst clouds contesting a flaming pearl. There are two similarly painted five-clawed dragons, each in pursuit of a pearl, painted on the underside. The base carries the partly erased six character mark of the Qianlong Emperor but this item was probably made later, during the reign of the Guangxu Emperor (1875-1908). Condition - excellent...
