This is a chinese peking glass bowl of emerald green with a band of white mouth rim, butteflies motive and lotus lappet at the base. The butterfly is an embalm of joy,freedom and conjugal felicity. It is also a symbol of summer. The lotus lappet is regarded as an embalm of summer and fruitfulness. The flatten base has the seal mark of Tongzhi and of the period.

A green glazed "celadon" ware vase with flattened pear-shaped body made in the Longquan kilns, Zhejiang province, circa 1450-1550, during the middle Ming dynasty. The shape is probably in imitation of ring handled bronze vessles of similar form which have been produced in China since the Yuan dynasty.
