This very well carved and rare Japanese ivory okimono is a mid-19th century product. It is 10 ¾” high, 3″ wide and 2 1/4″ thick both measured from the bottom. It depicts a fisherman sitting on a wood stool with his tool box on his side. He is repairing his broken fish net which is hanging on a tall pole. The artist (carver) did a wonderful job on the fisherman’s robe, his cigarette pipe and pouch, even the tool box was carved with wood grain...
Japanese antique wisteria branch handle with branch also at the rim of the basket opening. The branch has great texture with it's knobs and twists. Alternating wide flat bamboo with narrower bamboo slats on a bulbous body, ending in a circular base.

This is a finely carved boxwood netsuke depicting the Skeleton of the Buddhist Priest Danka beating oa a Mokugyo, or Buddhist Temple Drum. This is a fabulous Japanese cloisonne vase. It is done in a combination of traditional cloisonne and sculpted silver basse-taille work. The vase stands 6 inches tall and is 5 1/2 wide. It displays great but does have some damage or imperfections to the translucent enamel. This worst can be seen in the last image. There is a feathering in the enamel at the bottom rim. It is much more attractive in hand. The vase has silver rims and is signed Ota Jinnoei.
Antique Japanese tansu from the Nigata area of Japan. Most likely used by a merchant for storage. The 9 drawers are in three rows with the shallowest drawers along the top and gradually getting deeper toward the bottom of the chest. The hardware is all of iron and includes elegant hirute shaped drawer pulls, fan shaped lock plates and corner bracing. The wood is paulownia (kiri) wood.

An antique Japanese 2 section tall Isho Tansu (Kimono Chest) made from Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. Handmade iron fittings and sliding door handles that feature embossed Paulownia and Chrysanthemums. Side handles were used for transporting this chest.
The 2 sections allows this piece to be used as a stacked set or separated for use in different rooms of the home.

Antique Japanese ikebana basket with tall, arching handle. Oval form body on a round foot. Fine split bamboo is tightly woven around the upper and lower portion of the body. A wide band in the center is accented with a wave pattern. The handle is tightly wrapped to create a series of small squares. The basket utilizes many different types of knot work.
