A Japanese Tanuki garden statue made of Shigaraki pottery. A perfect good luck mascot for any garden or indoor decor. Entirely hand made and created by a Shigaraki artisan. It wears a straw hat to protect its head from the elements and it carries a Japanese ledger book in its left paw. Known in Japan for its good luck abilities, it is often seen standing outside of restaurants and pubs attracting customers and diners to enter the business establishment. This beautiful chawan (tea bowl) was made in the oribe style, a more than four hundred year old tradition from the central part of Japan in the ancient Mino province.
That tradition was in part influenced by tea master and warrior Furuta Oribe (1545-1615) who developed his own style of tea ceremony. The bowl is very well made and in perfect condition. It dates from the mid Edo Period and has no repairs or damages except inborn kiln cracks...

Japanese ribbed melon shaped vase with tall neck decorated with five shield form panels holding dragons chasing flaming pearls below a central horizontal red ground band filled with yellow and white chrysanthemums. Antique Japanese bronze tray with shell feet, Taisho period 1912-1926. It is incised with a repeating stylized wave pattern and adorned with shells and other marine creatures. Used to create beautiful small garden scenes. It is supported by shell shaped feet. It is irregularly shaped. It measures 1.25" deep 14.5" wide, 6.75" long 2.25" tall with feet.
It is a slightly larger size.
Two layers of indigo-dyed cotton cloth are layered and he is sashiko-stitched with a soft feel noragi.
In Akita prefecture, there are many soft sashiko compared to neighboring prefectures.

An elegant tall vase in signature soft blue by Shinjo Tozan III of Yamagata enclosed in the original singed wooden box dating from the early half of the 20th century titled Yohen Kabin. It is 15cm (6 inches) diametr, 41cm (16 inches) tall and in excellent condition.

This is a fine antique Japanese cloisonne vase with a midnight blue background and 11 flying sparrows. The birds are well done and there appears to be movement when looking at this piece. The vase looks great but it has a unique hard to see fill to a chip with a short line next to it(see the last image). The vase has not been sprayed. The vase stands 6 inches tall.

18th Century, nicely hand-carved Boxwood Netsuke depicting a recumbent Dog that appears to be pleasantly resting. Very nice stylized touches characterizes this netsuke made during the EDO Period of Japan. Unsigned. A bit larger than most netsuke of this type, with large himotoshi, common of carvings made during the 18th century, and beginning of the 19th century....

There is a light stain, but no damage. Recommended for antique textie collections.
