The size of Bowl: 6" Dia x 1 3/8" High. This is beautiful and Rare Japanese Old Kutani Bowl from early Meiji, 1870-1890. It is made of fine porcelain. It has the design of Taka (Japanese Hawk), with Fuji Mountain, Pine Tree with the decoration of Karakusa done with gold work, The pine tree are painted with fine brush works. It is not outlined work like commercial painting items. There is Sun or Moon design behind the Hawk. Outside of bowl has cherry blossom leaves with Genji Kou design...

Late 19th century bone ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) carved as a toy dog (inu hariko) with a loop for hanging with gold, red and black lacquer decoration. Inu hariko are traditionally considered to be protective talismans for newborn babies. Very pleasant carving, beautiful warm patina, in great condition (some losses to lacquer). Height 9/16 inches.

19th century netsuke of a chubby seated puppy with one front paw on an abalone shell. Wonderful depiction of its fat body, playful face, great hairwork, eyes are inlaid with dark horn. Old age lines, himotoshi is formed by its left hind leg, beautiful patina turning honey color on the back where netsuke was touching silk of the kimono. This is a very fine Japanese cloisonne vase done in the style of Namikawa Yasuyuki. It is not signed but we believe it was made by Honda, another great Meiji era artist. The enamels are rich in color and this heavy vase has a superb high gloss sheen. It stands 4 3/4 inches tall and is in excellent condition.

This is a finely carved Mid 19th Century Japanese Netsuke depicting two seated Karakos who are back to back to each other; one playing the Flute, and the other wearing a Shishimai mask.
