Antique Japanese Buddhist abbot's oxbow arm folding chair. Made of red and gilt lacquer hardwood, with seat made of leather. The backrest has gilt lacquered panels with geometric motif carvings and pierced lingzhi carving, the reverse of the backrest marked with a triple mokko-mon (family crest). The edges of the chair are decorated in metal plating incised with motifs of chrysanthemums.

This is a 19th century Japanese Netsuke, in a somewhat rare depicting of Shoki, the "Demon Queller", a mythical being, the hero of a Chinese legend of the T'ang Dynasdy, who became the ghostly protector of the Emperor Meiko, who is carrying, actually dragging, a very large bag 'Full of Oni's". A stern and very serious expression on Shoki's face. Unsigned. Netsuke measures 1.95 inches (5.0) wide, 0.78 inches (2.0) deep, and 0.85 (2.2cm) tall. It is in excellent condition.

This is a 19th century, excellently hand-carved Netsuke depicting a very surprised Rat Catcher, who is standing on one foot, while holding the tale of a rat that is crawling on his back. A rare antique Japanese very large size bronze Giboshi (bridge post finial). The upper section represents the sacred Hoju, a jewel that brings dreams into fruition. Also, its form symbolizes an onion which is thought to ward off evil spirits.
