DESCRIPTION: A Japanese Imari porcelain dish, shaped in “double fish” form and decorated in traditional Imari colors with floral designs in rust red, and fish scales and fins in royal blue. The reverse has painted florals and grasses on the four sides. Late 19th/early 20th century, and in excellent condition with no chips or restorations. This is a very refined studio vase from the Meiji era. The subtle colors and detail are truly beautiful. It is signed by one of the Japanese porcelain masters, Nishiura Enji. The work on Mt Fuji is raised relief and give off a three dimensional look. The shape is elegant and the changing colors are vry elusive. The vase stands just over 6 inches tall and is in excellent condition.

This is an early Japanese Imari vase from the last quarter of the 1800's. The leaves and flowers are painted in thick colorful enamels. There are also some gold highlights. The vase is very heavy and stoutly made. It is 10 inches tall and 8 1/2 inches wide. Condition is very good with some expected wear. Still a very fine old display piece.

A lovely Japanese painting on paper of two men observing the moon. This scroll was sold on consignment by a Japanese dealer named Sakura. According to Sakura and in his opinion, this painting would date from 1800-1849, and is in fair to good condition. This is a very fine Japanese cloisonne saki pot done with the gilded wires. The condition of the gold is exceptional for this style of cloisonne. There is a very slight dent on the metal edge of the handle that can be seen best in the 5th image. The pot measures 4 inches across and has a slight bluish green counter enamel.

This is a very fine early Japanese plique-a-jour bowl. The bowl measures 4 3/8 inches across and stands 2 1/4 inches tall. The bowl has two short lines in the yellow/red mums on the side that are hard to see. Look for them in the images. They can not be felt with a fingernail and are probably not all the way through. It is mounted with silver rims.

An Arita serving bowl, namasu, of moulded simplified lotus form partially celadon glazed with a ko sometsuke style Sansui landscape in the well of the bowl framed by enamelled Chestnut branches outlined in gilt. The reverse plain and the interior of the foot-ring clear glazed. The bowl is typical of the output of the Higuchi kiln in the Nangawara valley which specialised in combing celadon and clear glazes. Antique Japanese Lacquer arrow (ya) case. Mounted archery was the primary and most respected mode of Japanese warfare until the introduction of firearms in the 16th century. As a reflection of this, archery equipment was beautifully crafted of formed bamboo, lacquer work, and leather strapping. This is a fine, 18th century Japanese Netsuke depicting a monk laying on top of Hotei's Bag of Treasures. Wonderful expression with beautiful patina, what has torn golden from use on the bottom. Unsigned. Netsuke measures 1.88 inches (4.8cm) wide, 1.22 inches (3.1cm) deep, and, 0.92 inches (2.4cm) tall. It is in excellent condition.
