Japanese Antler Netsuke and Leather Tobacco Pouch with Glass Ojime, 19th Century, Leather Pouch-4" x 3 3/8" wide, Glass Ojime-1/2" diameter, and Netsuke-1 1/4" x 1 1/8" wide, 3/4" high, carved Antler Netsuke is a shape of Tree Branch, plus Glass Ojime. 19th century Japanese kozuka (sword knife) handle with multimetal inlays depicting two silver fern fronds and a length of shimenawa - a rice straw rope used for ritual purification in the Shinto religion. Decoration most probably refers to a particular festival. Superb crisp work - see the fine textures of both leaves and rope, silver and bronze inlays, gilding, finely textured ground called nanako, which means “fish-eggs” as it resembles fine rows of caviar, in great condition...

Very unusual 19th century square manju netsuke made out of a slab of aventurine glass with silver fitting on the back in a shape of a samurai family crest with paulownia flowers and leaves, swinging silver loop for hanging. Superbly beautiful and rare material, absolutely stunningly sparkling in direct sunlight, does not photograph well. Three tiny chips along the edges on the front and a couple on the back, do not take away from the piece. Beautiful patina, very pleasant to hold...

A Japanese heavy bronze incense burner with Murashido marbled areas decorating the sides, bottom, and lid. The burner is six sided, has a lid pierced with three bats (good fortune), and a top knob in the shape of a mushroom (long life). There is a makers mark stamped on the bottom (Esteemed Hall?). The burner measures 4 1/2" tall x 3 1/2" in diameter. We cannot find any comparable bronze burners, but we believe it dates to the turn of the Century. The condition is excellent with minor wear...

A small Japanese Satsuma koro with a pierced metal cover by an unknown maker, late 19th century. The vase is decorated with the Imperial chrysanthemum crest and three family crests, including the Paulownia of the Toyotomi clan, the Hollyhock leaves of the Tokugawa shoguns and the cross of the Shimazu clan who ruled over Satsuma, Ōsumi and Hyūga.

At the top corners can be found quarter-flower heads delicately painted in red and gold. Each mon is finely detailed...

The katazome is very exact and beautiful. The material of katazome is wool. There are a little color variation and a small hole. The state is very good.
