A good example of an “Ai Kutani” style dish decorated with a continuous scrolling vine of Peony flowers with Peony leaves and Buds set against a “frog spawn” type ground, which is typical of the period; see Volume II of the Shibata Collection no 347 for an identical border arabesque there dated circa 1670-80...

Rare item. Yazutsu (quiver) made of "koyori" which is twisted washi (Japanese handmade paper) strings. The crafts made of koyori and coated with urushi were called "Kami-Nagato" and they were popular handicrafts in Edo period, such as tabacco cases, bowls and sake containers in hyotan shape and so on. It has 15 arrows made of bamboo but feathers are worn out. The quiver is in excellent condition. The 19th century. L:94cm Diameter:7.5cm

This is Shounai-Obi used in Shounai for Edo period. This is woven in cotton and Koyori. This is considerably thick. As for this, cotton is dyed with a natural indigo plant. Cotton futonji made of hand-spun cotton and vegetable indigo dye. It has tsutsugaki auspicious motifs such as crane, turtle, plum blossom, bamboo and pine tree. Tsutsugki technique is excellent. Shigenobu (Hiroshige II) 1826-1869. The oban tate-e triptych depicts Minamoto no Yorimitsu, Sakata no Kintoki and Watanabe no Tsuna entering the mountain home of the demons. Circa 1851-1853. This is Fukusa of beautiful hand embroidery made in Kyoto in the Edo era.(1800-1867) As for the embroidery, the thread which gold leaf was rolled round is used and is made all by hand. The surface does not have a stain and the damage. And there are a few stains to the lining. It does not stand out. This is embroidery of a lucky bird. This is Meiji beni-shibori silk jyuban kimono textile of the Meiji era(1868-1912). The motif is dyed in a dyer's saffron with a cherry tree. It has pole a few stain and damage. This is Tsutsugaki produced in the Shonai district for the Meiji period. This was used in a merchant's family. As for this, cotton is spun by hand. This has a pattern and the family coat of arms of the peony butterfly. This is a pattern of the good luck. This has slight aging fading in three places, but there is not the damage. This is Patchwork komebukuro of kinran damask nishiki in Edo period(1800-1867). It is a bag that did fabric of wonderful Nishijin textile in the patchwork. The lining is red silk. All are original. Japanese wooden Money box, Coin Box used in Shrine or Temple Prayer's Alter, later part of Meiji period, late 1800's, 10" high, 10" wide, 15 1/2" deep, with black wrought iron lock compartment, round flower shape button slide from left to right to open.
