A Japanese porcelain wine ewer or Chosi of cylindrical form decorated in underglaze blue with alternating horizontal bands of flowers (auspicious gobenka)and pinnate leaves (resembling Asters). The design perhaps influenced by the Chinese Aster pattern of the Kangxi period and the later, Mid Qing, provincial Chrysanthemum pattern (see the Desaru Wreck). The ewer dates to the first half of the 19th Century. The Chosi measures 10.5cm in diameter and stands 15cm high. The foot-ring measures 7cm...

Antique Japanese rare and tall ikebana basket, intricately woven of fine split bamboo. The body of the basket has a beautiful, undulating quality. The woven pattern is wildly natural on the lower portion, then switches to ordered bands closer to a wide rim. The extraordinary handle is made of twisted root wood.

Large Japanese 18th/19th Century Blue & White Porcelain Dish / Platter

This large porcelain dish is attractively decorated in underglaze blue, the design featuring pagodas and a blossoming tree in a rocky landscape. The flat surround of the dish is decorated with a moulded cross-hatch pattern and it has a foliate rim edged in iron-brown. To the base are the typical firing spur marks.

This is a Japanese antique child kimono hand Yuzen-dyed on handspun & natural hemp safflower-dyed fabric, from the Edo period. There is a slight slight stain, but it is not noticeable. Fine example of a Jomon Period (13,000-300BC) Dogu, the earliest known Japanese figure. This figure was purchased at a Parke Bernet auction by a renowned author on and collector of Asian art. The Dogu acted as effigies of people. They manifested some kind of sympathetic magic. For example, it may have been believed that illnesses could be transferred into the Dogu, then destroyed, clearing the illness, or any other misfortune. Because of the ritual destruction of Dogu, they are quite rare...

Unusual Japanese antique kuruma tansu, keyaki (elm) wood front and frame, deep red translucent lacquer finish, heavy iron hardware, 2 locking bars each covering 2 drawers, safe box with three small drawers , keyaki horizontal bracing on sides and back, Edo Period (late 18th, early 19th century). Size: 47" high x 47 3/4" wide x 24" deep.

A 9.5" x 1.5" eight lobed blue underglazed shallow bowl decorated with four different opposing floral patterns and a center medallion.

Condition: Excellent except for two small chips to the unglazed foot of the bowl, the larger of which is illustrated.
