A fascinating Japanese shrine bell known as, Waniguchi, or directly translated as Crocodile's mouth, which resembles the wide mouth of a crocodile. The bell is usually found in shinto shrines that enshrine deities that were imported to Japan or Shingon temples. The bell contains an inscription stating that the bell was originally donated by the ancestors of the donor in 1686 and a new bell was rededicated in 1839. Antique Japanese carved wooden figure of Nio (Buddhist temple guardian), carved of wood with wonderful details and intensity of expression, traces of original pigment, once guarded the exterior gate to Buddhist temple, on metal stand, Edo Period. Size of figure: 30" high x 17" wide x 7" deep. Size on metal stand: 32" high x 18" wide x 12" deep.

This nicely executed ivory carving of a geisha is a late Meiji period (1868~1911) product. It depicts a formally dressed geisha holding a flower in her right hand and an umbrella in her left hand. It is 6 ¼” high, 1 ¾” wide and 1 ½” thick. The artist’s signature, “Masayuki,” is on the bottom. Aside from some hair line cracks due to age, it is in great condition.

Antique Japanese bronze usubata, Meiji period. The usubata are used for floral arrangements, like a vase. This usubata is striking with a dragon supporting the vessel with one of its arms as its back arches. It measures 9" tall 12" wide at base.

This is Dramatic Hagoromo Motif kabuki Uchikake kimono in the late Edo period.(1800-1867) It all is expressed with embroidery. It is wonderful beautiful uchikake kimono. It does not have a stain. It has few small small holes in lining cloth. It has the portion from which slight embroidery separated. However, it is not conspicuous. Its design is bold and artistic! It is really an wearable art! Set of 6 antique charming Japanese celadon shaped porcelain fish plates. The plates are decorated with red and gold scales and gold fins. They measure 9.25" long 5.5" tall. the bowl is supported with a round rim on the base, it is coated with a pale turquoise glaze. Meiji period pre-1900.
