Tall Japanese Boy's Day banner depicting 3 samurai on horseback. Wonderfully dramatic scene with swords drawn and crashing waves on a black ground. Bright colors in paste resist dye on cotton. The top of the banner is decorated with a wood sorrel (katabami) mon. Taisho Period. Size: 23 1/2 feet high x 33 inches wide.

Small covered box with an embossed decoration all around the body representing stylised animals in small medalions. The lid is surmounted by an animal (tiger?) and the base is decorated with a lotus. Antique Japanese ikebana basket, for display of flower arrangements. The piece is all hand-woven with bamboo with a wide rounded mouth, and squared base. The handle is made with braided thin sections of bamboo, secured at the sides with knots. The basket interior holds a striped bamboo vase.

Thinly potted and marked porcelain dish, decorated in underglaze Cobalt blue with the design of a Crab. Middle Ming Period, fifteenth century. The design of a Crab is common on Kangxi dishes and dishes of later Qing Dynasty Periods. On dishes of the Ming Dynasty the decoration of a Crab is quite rare.

A Ming Dynasty Hongwu period ( 1368 - 1398 ) porcelain dish with underglaze blue decoration and a biscuit fish to the center. Jingdezhen ware.Diameter : 12,5 cm.
Condition : Perfect with no chip or crack. Nice glaze condition. A burst bubble to the biscuit fish which can be seen on the enlargements.

Architectural element carved in the shape of a Hindu deity head wearing a formal cap. Nicely patinated wood, with old carpenter nails still inserted in some areas. India, early 18th century. Antique Japanese chop case made of boxwood and carved with a beautiful lady. The Inside of the box is still coated with powdered orange-red seal ink, at the base of the box is a semi circular bead made of amber, the top of the box is closed with a bead of bone and a smaller one of coral, the toggle is the shell of a cone snail, the sea creature hunts with a venomous barb.
