A very interesting and wonderful bust of a male god in silver, Ancient Near East, ca. 1st. millenium BC.

A pre-roman figure from the Ancient Near or middle East, unresearched for culture.

The finial depicts a divine figure likely a god, bald-headed with fine facial features, halo behind. Rivet holes for attaching it to a shaft of bone or wood now lost.

A massive bronze figurine from the medieval period, Islamic, Seljuq Empire, 10th.-11th. century AD.

The lion stands erect on 4 legs and incised details of the mane and head. A particularly charming specimen with finely made features of the head of the Lion, heavy body and seperate legs. Would have been quite expensive in the medieval period with it's high weight of solid bronze and nice workmanship.

A nicely executed thinbutted Danish Neolithic silex axe, dating to mid-late 4th mill. BC.

Partly polished axe with nice proprotions and clear 'seams' along the edges. Very nice workmanship.

Thinbutted axes were developed to help neolithic people to clear the forest to prepare the land for farming. The largest specimens - up to 40 cm - were put down in marches as offers.

Alabastra would have held scented oil and, based on paintings on pottery, were frequently owned by women for use after bathing.

19th century metal and wood kagamibuta (mirror lid) netsuke. Patinated bronze top with inlaid and carved design of a Saizo dancer playing tsuzumi (a hand drum) by a pine sapling and with the moon partially obscured by cloud in the background. Saizo dancers are usually attending Manzai dancers during New Year celebrations. A Nepalese dagger used in Shamanic and Buddhist rituals, carved from wood with a glossy patina. The handle section in the shape of a vajra with endless knots and three faces, the blade trigonal. Condition: traces of usage. Dimension: 21.1 cm long.

The handle zone decorated with dots, three bands below. Reserved surface is covered with a thin brownish wash.

The man shows a wide face, short chin, and small ears set at the level of the temples. The almond-shaped eyes are raised, one of them with slight outline of the eyelids. The knobby nose is very close to the full lips underneath.

The animal head with flared nostrils, open mouth and bare teeth. The big eye with eyelashes, the ears laid back. Mane and tail hatched.
Trappings around the neck and the croup decorated with tiny dots. On the croup a swastika with dots in the interstices, possibly a brand.

Roman fragment with a tabula ansata inscribed DOMIN[A] VICTOR[IA], an acclamation translatable as “Lady, victory (is yours)!”
The inscription is connected to Saint Thecla, whose upper arm and blurred hand appear below.
Saint Thecla was a companion of Saint Paul, and an important figure in the Christian imagery of Roman North Africa. She enjoyed great popularity during the Byzantine period.
