An important very early bronze Buddha, Thailand, c. 14th. century.
The artfully made buddha with a lovely serene expression, seated in deep meditation on a throne or base, now partly lost. An excarvated figure with remnants of gilt on the body
Size: 22 cm. tall.
Condition: Very nice for the extremely old excarvated type, some light restoration and part of base lost due to corrosion. It's stands fine and straight though.
The cup has a soft velvet surface with shadows into a clear white tone. Very nice item. Provenience: The Collection of SR Parker, Esq., past president of the Southeast Asian Ceramics Society(SEACS) (1978-1980). Condition: Very good condition. Small rim frittering exist. No cracks, hairlines or restoration. Measurement: diameter 7.4 cm = 2.9 in

They represent the mythical lions, called "dogs of Foo", the guardians of Buddhist temples and images. Both with open mouths, coats of waved lines and spreading tails. The male has right forepaw resting on ball of brocade and the female has left forepaw on a playful cub...
The coin was well casted and was preserved in very good condition.
