An ornate porcelain image of a horse draped in full regalia by Miyanaga Tozan I enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The detail about the head is fabulous, and the artist has done an excellent job capturing the musculature of the creature while allowing something ethereal. In Japan horses (and cows and foxes and deer and lots of other creatures) are often enshrined as messengers or embodiments of the gods in Shinto. This is 21 x 9 x 23.5 cm (9-1/4 inches) tall and in excellent condition...

This is a colorful porcelain Japanese Imari plate centered with rising phoenix surrounded by blue and red diaper pattern and gilt accents and rims; rimmed with medallions on the reverse, late 19th century . Condition: Very good with a chip and small hairline at the rim. Measurement: 9" dia.

Beautiful silk panel with deep blue edging, decorated with Chinese characters in gold thread and flowers in light shades of blue, green, and pink. The center of the panel is light green silk, with two mirrored fenghuang birds with long, gold tails and pink, blue and gold thread feathers, surrounded by pink and blue silk flowers with gold accenting. Tibetan Thang-ka. Early 20thcentury. Pigment on cloth, the large central roundel with a central figure of Heruka in yab-yum, surrounded by 4 smaller roundelsde picting further deities in a landscape setting. 99 x 65 cm.

A pair of Chinese blue and white porcelain cups. Nicely painted decoration of three flower arrangements on each cup - the bouquets respectively centering a peony, a chrysanthemum and a camellia bloom (appearing to represent blooms from different seasons.) The cobalt blue has a deep, clean quality. Late 19th to early 20th century. Condition is good - one cup with small flake inside the foot rim (illustrated.) Height each, little more than 2 1/4 inches (5.72 cm)...

Chinese Childs Silk Collar in the form of a Tiger. With embroidered and applied raised eyes, nose, ears and mouth. E20thC. Diameter 31.5cm. Condition: very good, some fading and slight staining to blue under silk.

A large Korean porcelain jar, glazed in a transparent white with slight blue undertones. The upper body is rounded, with a short, flat rim and glazed interior. The lower body tapers down with a slightly fluting foot, left bare along the rim.

Antique Chinese pair of yellow glaze bowls with incised flying dragons and clouds of smoke along its outer edges, and a single dragon within double rings on the inside center. Wonderful crackling in the glaze is most apparent near the rim and the foot of each bowl. The bottom of each bowl has a Xuande period mark, but most likely dates from the 19th century Ching Dynasty. Size: 3.25" height, 6.5" diameter

This is an exceptionally well carved mask, dating, most probably, to the early 20th century. The artist who created this mask has invested it with a powerful and menacing presence, as the photos will, hopefully, show. The piece measures just over 11 inches in width and is intact, carved from a single tree fungus. A rare and powerful survival.

This peach-shaped kogo (incense box) is made of fine kinuta celadon from one of the great masters of the Meiji era—Suwa Sozan. A classic design, the peach is said to represent long-life for mortals and immortality for the gods in asian folklore. According to legend, the moon goddess—a powerful alchemist—can make an elixir from peaches that grow in the garden of the western paradise with miraculous revitalizing properties...

This white porcelain statue depicts a small seated Bodhisattva deep in meditation. Bodhisattva, otherwise known as bosatsu in Japan, are enlightened beings who have postponed Buddha-hood in order to remain on earth and help others to break their cycles of karma.
