Gorgeous vintage 1940s or 1950s French five strand bracelet with glittering pink faceted glass bezel set open back unfoiled pointed back stones and glass based faux baroque pearls mounted in goldtone metal with an early oversized spring ring clasp with a thumb collar rather than a tab. Excellent condition with two small losses to two pearls, pictured but not noticeable when worn. Slight wear to the goldtone finish at the clasp is also pictured but again not noticeable when worn...

jade pendant in leaf shape and real gold

Matching the impressive pendant necklace by the same maker that is also available in my store, the "warrior" bracelet presented here was wrought by maestro Anton in the "mozaico Azteca" style that the Los Castillo workshop revived in Taxco's "golden Deco" years. The profile of the warrior, carefully cut out of sterling silver sheet, and the eagle that accompanies it, is set in a sea of azur-malachite...

The repousse work is outstanding on this design 543 Los Castillo bracelet. It is 2 inches tall with a hook closure. The old linear hallmark and the design itself shows that this was the work of Margot Van Voorhies when married to Antonio Castillo. Together they formed the taller Los Castillo. The links are rounded to fit the arm perfectly and are 6.75 inches long. An outstanding bracelet to add to a collectors wardrobe. It will be noticed by all that gaze upon it.

This is a Pair of Beautifully Designed SWEATER CLIPS by BERNICE GOODSPEED. Designed to hold a Sweater the Chain holds the Clips 5 1/2" apart. Marked on the back: B with STERLING clearly legible. Each measures 7/8" X 1 1/4". Date these circa 1950 and in Excellent Condition.

This Mexican silver necklace weighs 65 grams and is 16in. long with each tulip being 1 1/8th inches tall. It is double signed as shown with TSL. Each tulip has hand made partitions that form the flower. Next the Maestro makes a tiny bead ball and centers it as the stamen to the bottom of the hanging flower. This was an intricate number of steps to build each flower alone and not to mention the swirl of the stem that attaches to the necklace...

This wonderful chunky vintage sterling silver necklace makes a statement no matter what you wear. The four sterling medallions are each sand-cast to create a beautiful frieze of abstract mythological figures in high relief, and each sterling link of the necklace is hand-wrought by the artist, one link presently unattached, each piece marked Sterling. This is a pre-1948 Rafael Melendez bracelet that is so deeply chased and designed so beautifully. It is 1 inch wide and can fit a large range of sizes. The weight is 43 grams of thick silver. It has a turquoise stone that is gorgeous and has changed into over time a warmer tone of blue green. This piece is collector quality and a real treasure.

An early Danecraft sterling silver lily parure set circa 1940. It consists of the 2-5/8" x 2" brooch pin with safety catch, the 16" long and 5/8" wide necklace with spring-ring catch, and the 7/8" x 5/8" pierced earrings. Each piece and link is in the form of a lily, and this set is signed with the Danecraft Sterling mark except for the earrings, which have been converted to pierced/posts (losing the marks on the screwbacks)...

This Los Castillo is an early design 592 and crafted when Margot Van Voorhies was married to Antonio Castillo. This is not for the faint of heart with a .5in. depth, 21 inches long and 1.25in. tall. Showing further quality is the weight of 183 grams. It displays a naturally darkened patina. I have showed a picture of the well working clasp as it is old in style and almost invisible. Love this on, just LOOK AT THAT NECKLACE!

This is fantastic piece of 40s figural jewelry. Each of the five links is set with hand painted figural Asia Princess face masks and accented with small faux pearls and a gold headband with tassel drops. Each face has red lips and white eyebrows and eye slits.

This bracelet is 7 3/8" long by 1 3/4" wide set in chunky silver tone. It is possible that this might also be Selro / Selini, too.

Early hand-made sterling and jade ring by Sam Kramer, NYC, c.1948. The front measures 3/4" by 1/2" by 1/8" thick and the band is 5/16" wide. Made of heavy gauge silver with a small jade cabochon is is size 6 1/4 or 6 3/4 depending on which end is worn up. Lushly designed floral sterling and amethyst pin sold by Sanborn's and possibly made by Fred Davis who managed and designed for the store from 1947 through the early 50's, Mexico, c.1950. Pin is signed "bellmark 22", which was Sanborn's number. It measures 2 1/8" long by 1" wide. Excellent condition except that pin was probably changed with lead solder. Though it is not uncommon to find Mexican silver fur pins, it is usually single pieces that are available. Here, however, there is a pair bearing the signature of the Los Castillo in a “bow and flower” design. I am not sure if the workshop ever made a whole parure available in this specific design - I have had the small bow necklace / bracelet sets in the past but this is an enhanced version, with more elements added to the bow and the bow itself bigger and fancier...

A massive silver ring by Antonio Belgiorno, Buenos Aires, c 1940-50. The geometric design and the use of oxidizing is typical of Belgiorno, who is one of Argentina’s most well known artists in silver. A solid piece of jewelry that really makes a statement. Marked A Belgiorno, Industria Argentina T27 and 900. Open and adjustable, the inner diameter at present 18 mm which corresponds to size 6 ½. Condition: fine.

We have a unique design of heavy repousse touched off with amethyst. No dents or damage and fits most with a 2.5in. diameter. The height is 1.75 making this a noticeable piece on the wrist. Marked Mexico Silver and weighs 64 grams.

One of my favorite insect designs in the world of vintage Mexican silver jewelry, this “machine age” dragonfly is known as a Los Castillo creation yet here it is signed by a “less celebrated” Taxco maestro. What first attracted me to this creature is its “industrial”, perforated wings that make the dragonfly look more delicate but awe-inspiring at the same time. Carefully hand-crafted and perfectly finished, the brooch is decorated with three polished agate cabochons...

How big does a piece of jewelry have to be before it qualifies to be called monumental? I think at 4.25'“ tall, this Mexican Deco butterfly brooch definitely fits the bill...

Pedro Castillo was known for quality in his work and beautiful design. He has an impressive resume working for William Spratling in the 30's and also a Maestro for Hector Aguilar beginning in 1939. He opened his own taller sometime in the 40's. This parure is properly hallmarked as shown and numbered 115 on the tongue of the necklace and bracelet and the back of the earrings. Elegant oriental figure with gorgeous enamel in ten different colors! Sterling. From the 1930's of 40's. Very three dimensional and heavy. 3 1/2" long, 1 5/8" wide.

A senor doll motif. Vintage circa 1945 sterling silver pin brooch as a pre assay era figural man with sombrero carrying a crate of 'tomatoes' stamped: SILV MEX - testing at least 90%, tho often these are higher. No doubt by a talented Taxco Mexico Mexican silversmith working in repousse holloware.
The native peoples have been known to make dolls as teaching tools for their children to play.

A well crafted, detailed sterling silver necklace by Albino Manca in an Arts and Crafts floral design.

Measures about 17 1/4" long and 1/2" wide. Marked with a partial Hand Wrought stamp, Sterling, and A. Manca on the back of one link. Has a hook clasp that holds securely.

Wonderful early Navajo handmade 2 1/2" long sterling squash blossom earrings with stamping. These are screwbacks but could easily be converted for pierced ears. They are in fine original condition, weigh 11 grams and the reverse of the findings are marked sterling. Great Navajo earrings.

Rare and beautiful Intertwined Curving X Cuff in 940 silver by Hector Aguilar. It is featured on page 151 of the catalogue from the William Spratling and the Mexican Silver Renaissance Exhibit "MAESTRO DE PLATA" and also on page 19 of the book SILVER MASTERS OF MEXICO by Penny Morrill.
