A handsome pair of 18K gold and hematite barbell-form cufflinks made by Larter, stamped 18k and makers mark on connectors. Measures 1 1/4" in length approx. Condition is excellent.
Fabulous early signed Kenneth J. Lane clip drop earrings in dark goldtone metal with marquise green poured glass stones and rhinestones, with three strands. All stones are prong set. Late 1960s, with the early mark K.J.L., with a period after each initial. 3 1/2 inches long. Excellent condition. Photos enlarged to show detail.
Fabulous 1960s or 1970s big glass beaded necklace with jewel tone art glass beads, most likely French. Also from the same estate, coordinating pierced earrings with black and white glass cabochons which are very similar to the black and white embedded in some of the beads on the necklace. There is a silvertone bead at the back that looks like a French style screw barrel clasp, but it appears to be a faux decorative clasp. It is not needed as the necklace is long enough to go over the head easily...
Circa mid-century, this is a spectacular set of bracelet and earrings from Sigi Pineda. Bracelet can be worn by either a man or woman.
The bracelet features a huge and gorgeous gold sheen obsidian stone, which measures just over 1 3/8" square. The stone was cut so that ribbons of gold sheen run on the diagonal. Bracelet is hinged on two sides to open nice and wide and easily fits over the wrist. Closure is a tight and secure slide in tongue in groove, and a safety latch...
Fabulous vintage French long sautoir with 24 large Gripoix glass beads, no two the same, and small glass based faux pearls, wired along a chain which is ornately detailed in the French style. The metal is darkened goldtone. Spring ring clasp. Long enough to wear doubled or tripled. Probably circa 1950 or 1960 but possibly earlier, given the aged metal. Wearable length is 60 inches. The largest bead is 3/4 inch wide. Excellent condition. Photos enlarged to show detail...
Richly colored azur-malachite stone is paired with warmly glowing sterling in this chunky modernist Mexican silver bracelet signed by none other than the maestro of Piedra y Plata, Felipe Martinez. Martinez is one of my absolute favorite Taxco silversmith and a superb lapidary as well. He has an uncanny ability to pair silver with stone that works every single time, as if the two materials were just made to be together...

An 18K gold and amethyst Venetian Etruscan charm or pendant enhanced with ropetwist and beaded decoration. The larger portions of the gold surface are worked in an engraved crosshatch pattern that is very unusual for Italian charms of the period. The decoration creates a soft sheen rather than a glittery surface. The amethysts are set with fleur-de-lis and claw prongs. The amethysts have deep purple coloring and are of very nice quality...
A book piece for Sigi Pineda, the “boomerang” brooch belongs in a line of jewelry in which the Taxco modernist combined layering, purposefully applied oxidation and vividly colored semi-precious and hard- stones to create slick, modernist, I would even say space-age, designs that seems as relevant today as they did when they were first introduced to the world...
This mid-century bracelet by Antonio Pineda is unique and unusual. And a real stunner.
It reminds me of a tiara, or a crown. Tipped with nine pearls, executed in 970 silver, it's a heavy and substantial hand-wrought showpiece. Hinged at both sides to open wide and easily fit over the wrist, closure is a tight and secure tongue in box. Collector quality.
Closed, wearable length is 6 3/4"...
Stunning statement vintage late 1960s necklace by Mimi di Niscemi for Brania, with many strands of translucent and opaque resin beads, and a huge decorative box
slide clasp with very unusual glass rhinestones, prong set in goldtone metal. Marked BRANIA...
Heavy brilliant green glass beaded necklace with silvertone hook and matching extender chain. The hook is marked MADE IN FRANCE. The
beads are strung on fine metal wire. The beads are lead crystal and possibly Swarovski. Circa 1960. 17 1/2 inches wearable length. The center
drops about 3 inches. Excellent condition. Photos enlarged to show detail.
One of the most talented Taxco maestros, Gerardo Lopez was exceptional in the art of repoussage and his jewelry is sought after and avidly collected for its quality and inventive motif combinations. I have suggested in the past that he must have worked for the Los Castillo and / or Margot de Taxco because many of the motifs he uses are also found in the famous workshops' creations...
I acquired this pair of Miguel Melendez’s hinged bangles as a set some time ago and after long deliberations, I decided that they should continue in life as such. Miguel is one of Taxco’s modernists yet he honed his skills at Spratling’s Las Delicias and working for Margot de Taxco for many years. This specific design is a favorite of mine’s by him - it brings to mind rock formations and I love the interplay of negative and positive space...
Unsigned Italian necklace, probably by Baroness Luciana Aloisi de Reutern, who designed for Gucci and Elizabeth Arden and also exported directly to
the United States. Circa 1965. It has dimensional "molten" looking articulated sections with a hook and chain at the back, and brilliant very large glass
stones in aqua, chartreuse, and yellow. The emerald cut stones are unfoiled and openbacked. The photos do not capture the brilliance and quality of the
stones. Several of the emerald cu...
1960s French necklace of black glass beads, and black and clear Lucite oblong drops, with goldtone metal findings. From the atelier runway
collection of Madame Gres. Not marked but well documented. Germaine Emilie Krebs (1903-1993), known as Alix Barton and later as
Madame Gres, launched her design house in Paris in 1942. She produced haute couture designs for many fashionable women, including Greta
Garbo and Jacqueline Kennedy. She was the subject of a recent exhibition (and compan...
An important artist-designed 18K yellow gold and emerald ring by Maison Gennari of Paris. The ring is styled in the Art Nouveau taste, with a voluptuous mermaid surrounded by waves and seaweed. She leans against a pair of cabochon emeralds, whose green color reinforces the watery feeling of the design. The ring is stamped with French 18K marks and is signed by Maison Gennari.
Francois Gennari was a jeweler who collaborated with sculptors to create one-of-a-kind jewels. The works were displ...
