Joseph Pennell, American, 1857-1926, "Waterloo Bridge and Somerset House". A beautiful architectural cityscape by master printmaker, Joseph Pennell. Measuring 8 x 11 inches, it is pencil signed with publishers label on the backing. Created in 1905 in an edition of probably 75, cat: Wuerth #379. Pennell was an important American etcher, lithographer and illustrator. Good friends with James McNeill Whistler, he and his wife co-authored his biography...

Very rare hand carved Baroque Church Putto (Cherub), wood with traces of gilding and polychrome paint, made for corner/angle where 2 walls join. Utagawa Yoshitsuya, Japanese, 1822-1866, "Wakazaka Shinnai at Shizugadake". This is a an original color woodblock print by Utagawa Yoshitsuya from his series '54 Battle Stories of Hideyoshi". The image size is 12 7/8 x 8 7/8 inches, 1864, lifetime impression, framed. Hideyoshi was a 16th century Samurai warrior in the who rose through the ranks of the army to become general, leading the forces of Japan in several brutal conflicts...

This is a fragment of a larger 18th century European religious painting. The painting is very well painted in oil on wood with a gesso layer and depicts Christ carrying the cross with a thorn crowned head. Dimensions: 36 cm x 14, 5 cm (14 1/8 in x 5 5/8 in). The wood and the painting has been professionally conserved to protect from further deterioration.

A small sketch in ink and watercolor on paper, mounted on cardboard, showing a street scene with automobiles, maybe in Teheran. Signed "Sevruguin". The authorship is not obvious: either Antoine-Khan Sevruguin (1840-1933) a pioneer of photography in the late 19th century Persia or his son André "Darvish" Sevrugian, who studied painting in Paris. Dimension: 12.8 x 23.8 cm (cardboard: 19.6 x 31.5 cm)...

Oil on board painting of whitewashed, red tile roof typical California architecture, a garden in bloom in the brilliant sunshine, painted circa 1940 by an anonymous artist. The impressionist technique is outstanding, and I believe that were this signed, we would see the name of a listed artist. Written in old hand in pencil on the reverse of the board is "Pomona College Claremont"...

A large etching in colors by the famous Czech artist, TAVIK FRANTISEK SIMON (1877-1942), commonly titled "Rue Mouffetard" (Paris scene). The sheet measures 21" by 24" and is presently unframed with just an old mat. The subject is a pawn shop ("Chiffonier") in Paris, the antique curiosities and goods displayed on the street as people mill about. In the plate appears the artist's distinctive monogram and the date of execution, 1913...

A soldered metal figural group sculpture apparently depicting a military charge in modern context. By Outsider/Brutalist Artist Franklin E. Wurster. Signed "Frank Wurster" and titled "The Race". Fair/Good condition with one figure having come undone at the soldered joints. Can be resoldered but we'll leave that project to the purchaser. Length of the supporting plinth, 15 inches. Height including plinth, about 11 1/2 inches.

A twentieth century Italianate landscape painting in convincing Old Master style, unframed, impressively large at 23 3/4" by 47 3/4", signed at lower left by noted Old Master style painter TONI BORDIGNON (born 1921). Bordignon's mastery of the subject matter and techniques of masters of previous centuries has led to his decorative and popular paintings being offered at auctions in Europe and America...

Caricature of Martin Heflin by Allen Stone. Heflin was a famed political operative in Washington DC during the 1940s and 50s. He is the brother of movie star Van Heflin and was a poker playing buddy of FDR.
