A very attractive Original Oil Painting in the Manner of Henri Joseph HARPIGNIES (1818-1916) of a French Provincial Village Scene depicting a Woman with Child. Oil on Canvass, signed lower left; Frame surround also retains Name lettering. Overall condition good, light craquelure, couple inconsequential small spots of restoration (lower center in trees), areas of frame retouched. 19/20th Century. This is a beautifully painted work by an historical painter of late 19th century California, ALBERT JENKS (1830-1901). It is already quite impressive as it is, but, with a gold frame around it, I can envision this gracing the wall of a law office or museum...

An old label including cut-out printed catalog entry and a hand-written note thereon, accompanies the drawing...

Hudson River School style watercolor on paper, 13 1/2" by 19" inside the mat, 24" by 30" as framed, signed at lower right "Byron Albee". This is a subtle, delicate, beautifully executed watercolor of trees and a line of stones next to a pond. Because it IS so subtle, it does not photograph impressively; but in person it is appealing. The work has survived the years in excellent condition with only a bit of well balanced overall browning of the paper...

Charles Baudelaire de face, etched portrait by Edouard Manet. The French poet was photographed by Félix Nadar in 1862 and the photo was the starting-point for Manet’s portrait. More than one version exists of the etching and this is number III. Signed in the plate Peint et Gravé par Manet 1865, and Imp. A. Salmon (printer´s name). On creme coloured wove paper, size of plate "3 ½ / 9.4 cm x "3 ¼ / 8.2 cm. The partly silvered frame measuring "7 / 18 cm x "7 / 18 cm. Condition: fine.

Original black and white photograph, circa 1930 to 1950, 13" by 10 1/4" inside the mat (20 1/2" by 16 1/2" as framed), bearing on the reverse of the photo the rubber stamp of mid century California photographer WILL CONNELL (1898-1961). The subject is a complex industrial machine, with lots of cables and wires, steel and wheels, and even some sparks coming from somewhere...

Alexander Nay brown terracotta carved figure of a bird,mid 1970s incised brown clay with a hole at back for mounting to a base, base not included. The artist initialed this piece" N 4 "in his usual incised way. Size l 3.75" by 1.5" high there is a slight chip to one edge of its beak as seen in pictures. This is from a very rare group of early miniature pieces most all were initialed in this way...
